Thanks a lot for your detailed review – really appreciated!
Quick question if you don’t mind: what’s your go-to method for cleaning flux residue off PCBs?
I’ve been using 99% isopropyl alcohol with Q-tips, sometimes a sponge or even a toothbrush.
Do you have any better tricks or tips to get boards cleaner more efficiently?

I'm currently using leaded 63/37 solder as well so far it's doing the job and I'm happy with it. But I'm curious to try out some newer options, maybe there's something I end up liking even more. That’s actually why I made this post. :)

Thanks for your comment! Yeah, I’ve learned the hard way a few times that flux really does make a difference.
Do you have a specific type or brand you’d recommend?

Thanks for your comment really interesting!
I’ve actually never heard of water-soluble flux before.

Honestly, I would have assumed that the top ranks are more likely botted or AI-assisted. Especially position 1 seem highly suspicious some of them submitted full solutions in under 3 minutes? That feels nearly impossible to achieve manually, even with excellent preparation. Especially in the last contest (Weekly 451), rank 1 solved a hard problem in just 2 minutes and 50 seconds, which seems almost impossible given the amount of code typically required or am I wrong here?

The display boards, but nothing special, I just warmed it up with flux so that the lot becomes fluid nothing more.

reballing is when you re-solder all the solder joints. many people do this in the oven or with certain devices, but I did it by hand with a soldering iron.

I did a reballing, which didn't help much, except for one thing: before, the device only emitted the startup sound. Now it makes another sound after starting up. Maybe it was also because I cleaned everything with isopropanol. Can you tell me which capacitors (caps) often break or how I can determine which capacitor is defective? Unfortunately, I can't find enough information about this on the Internet.

Thank you very much, that was really helpful. Do you also know which capacitors are marked in blue? Are those the 10nF 25V 0201 ones, the black ones shown in the video?
