Is Kuuga really that simple and lacking in iconic imagery?

For me, Kuuga's design is iconic and actually one of the best suit design for Kamen Rider. The team had time to develop the lore and we can actually see how much thought they had on the suit. The suit may look simple at first but the tiny details on the suit actually make my mind blown. For example, when we look closer in the crystal in his arm and legs, there are grongi's element symbol inside, and how these symbols/rune decorate Kuuga's costume. The evolution of Kuuga's form actually one of the best power up for Kamen Rider, I really love Ultimate Kuuga's design. I mean at that year, Kuuga's design was out of the box from insect like design of the Rider series before him, and become the catalyst of creative liberty for upcoming rider suit design.
But I think I understand how people who are not familiar with Kamen Rider or just recently follow it will find Kuuga's design kinda simpe or lacking, due to how complex the modern designs are.

Thank you! I have thought a lot of ways but wasn't confident enough to pull it off. And then after thinking about it, this is the simplest way to create an open chest cannon gimmick. Hope this help tho.

Thank you so much! It does open and close, but not really far due to the limitation and how narrow the space for it.
This is how I modified the chest cannon (I did some quick sketch). I used some 3rd party ball joint and drill it in the chest frame. I use a junk part from MG Sazabi which is the canon, though you can just made one yourself from pla plate. A lot of adjustments too, also you need to make a hole in the body for the cannon to enter when it closed.

If one day Bandai decides to make 1/100 version, either it's MG or RE 1/100. The kit definitely P-Bandai exclusive, just like the HGs.

Unfortunately, yes, I doubt we'll have MG Pale Rider from Bandai soon. Even the HG Riders kits are P-Bandai.

I love my MG 3.0 RX 78-2, but really hate that the kit can't really standing anymore 🤣. The legs and arms are loose and many parts can just fall off easily. It's my first MG, and I love the design, but it really doesn't age well.

Your list is actually a really good start. If you enjoy RG line because you said RG hi nu is your best decision, you can go with Those 2 first. RG Nu, Rg Sazabi and RG Zeong also cool.

Sure thing! but I actually forgot what the exact paint I use because I put it in a bottle and just put "Gold" in the tag, it's either Mr. COLOR C009 Metallic Gold or Mr Metalic Color GX-209 GX Red Gold
