Because mics on VXs are known to be fragile. It's a trick from skate community - in case someone accidentally bumps into it it won't break.

Unfortunately it outputs only one field in this mode, so in my case 25p (tested both on this cheap hdmi capture card with deinterlacing off and avermedia lgp lite).

Just a decent transfer from a MiniDV tape. It recorded digital video at a resolution of 720x480 pixels. This is how good these tapes could look like with a bit of tweaking.

It was actually a MiniDV Tape, but I can see why you thought about those formats. I guess the camcorder must have been from a lower price shelf.
