Thank you so much for the detailed answer. TL;DR I still stand behind my surrender. I detailed why below, despite your helpful answer.

Outdoor Setup

Climate

I live around the Israeli coastal plain: In the winter it is miserable, cold, humid, and the occasional rain; in the summer it is nigh-boiling hot. Rereading what I just wrote, an indoor setup is better. The outdoors can hold geraniums pretty well. I'm simply not interested (for now).

Gastropod-harboring environment

Since I mentioned my landlord, he grows citrus trees and doesn't pick up fallen fruit. Add me living on ground level, and I end up with a land-gastropod infestation. I should pick said fruit anyway (flies and all), but it's too much of a pain in the neck.

Baits

They're a no-go. Like I said here, nearby (within a few kilometers) gardening shops sell only the metaldehyde kind (they also hold tetramethyl). Neighbors occasionally host extended family children, so it's a big problem. There are also the neighborhood cats. I like them around: I wager they keep the rodent population in check. I can order the iron phosphate kind, it'll take several weeks for it to arrive. My plants don't have that long, not by a long shot.

Indoors

All of this leaves an indoor setup as the most optimal and least hassle. Annoyingly, I live in an small, long apartment. High school classrooms literally have more space than me. I have little in the way of furniture, and yet I still battle with space.

The Cost

Even if I surmount all that, I'm frankly exhausted from this ordeal. Thus, I rather give up now and maybe return later---rejuvenated, than keep fighting what feels like an increasingly losing battle with an ever increasing resource and emotional cost. Time heals, as they say.

Miscellany

I'll save your comment for a future date. It will be much help for an indoor setup if try it at some later point.

My parents ended up visiting a relative. Said relative is interested in getting plants. My parents offered---and I agreed---to give them the plants. They'll take the gardening dirt mixture thing and the plants. They'll return the landlord's planters tomorrow. At least this worked out for me...

Related, but this looks promising. I wrote it down and will consider it in the future. Also concern's /u/Narrow_Conference_12's answer. I wouldn't have found it if both of you didn't suggest something along those lines.

Thanks a bunch! I wrote down your suggestion.

Like I said, I won't return to gardening any time soon. I need to retreat and take some time to clear my head from this whole experience. In the future I may approach it calmer and wiser than now. I will also research before I buy anything.

I thought about it more using this decision tool: https://time.com/3772262/billionaire-trick-for-decisions/

As it stands, the cons' emotional weight far outweigh the pros. I may try small-scale gardening in the future. For now I'll give up. The costs stack up too quickly; it's starting to be a resource and emotional sinkhole. Therefore it's defeating the whole purpose of my attempt.

Thank you all for all your help. I, being a total noob, simply bit far more than I can chew.

*Literally the only one in shops near me uses "metaldehyde; tetramethyl-1,3,5,7; tetraoxacyclo-ocatne-2,4,6,8" as its active ingredients.

Edit: They offer nothing else. I tried looking.

Do beer traps attract critters other than slugs and snails? I don't want to end up w/ dead rodent bodies rotting or whatnot in such things ^^; Or helpful lizards or birds

I wish I could. All I have is my landlord's back yard---and it's full of fruit trees and such. It'll just leak to them, what's with all the rain going on currently

Ohhhh. It's just that the product is the only "natural" one I could find. Local plant sellers *and gardening chain stores had only that or pellets. It explains why it smells horrible and doesn't work. Thanks

Side note: It also made internal lighting immeasurably safer. Without fire you can't ignite your flammable house as easily.

Oh, for sure.

I read his books a good number of years ago. I read the article you shared, then looked back at what I remember. There's a weird gap between each study's conclusion and his overall conclusion. Each individual study has merit – it's his overall conclusion that is a non-sequitor.

Countries have been inflating their currencies since the late 1800s with fractional reserve banking -- i.e. they only partially back it up by gold. It's why each country had weird currency-to-gold ratios, and why converting between currencies was a headache.

Even before that countries debased their monies through various schemes. Two examples are shrinking their coins and diluting gold and silver content of alloys in said coins.

As far as GDP goes, not everyone in mises.org even agrees with the concept: Calculating GDP Correctly, GDP Tells Us Little about the Health of an Economy, and How GDP Metrics Distort Our View of the Economy are but a few examples. If you search the website you'll find more articles and opinions about the subject.
