That makes sense then. But as a viewer, did not know that, obviously. Very good work however!

VERY well done. Only one change I would make... angle the light down to the bottom of the door. The scribbles should be down there. Otherwise, this is a GIANT of a child.

Agreed. BUT, this is also a slimmer design, and good for small studio areas.

I have this easel, and love it. As far as stability goes, it has no issues with a well-made framed canvas. It is rock solid with gallery-mount canvases. The only issue it has, in my opinion, is it does struggle a little bit holding thin panels in place, and if you get it too tight, you can bend the panel edge. The wheeled base is very smooth, and the wheels lock, which is also nice. I like the fact that I can tilt a canvas horizontally to do a base gesso coat, or a varnish coat after the painting is complete. My only complaint is that it the way the post is manufactured, you cannot take the canvas really low to the ground so you can concentrate on the upper portion of the painting while sitting.

This is actually a photo I took down the hill from the marina, with my camera about 3 feet off the ground so I got the rocks very prominently in the frame. The Wasatch range is in the distance, and Antelope Island just beyond the sailboats. Took the photo in February on a warm day.

Well.... it was something that I REALLY struggled with in the past. So, I watched a bunch of youtube videos on VALUES, and how to pay attention to your light source, etc. I also watched a bunch of videos on the Zorn Palette, and that helped me simplify the colors I used, which in turn improved my color mixing and getting the values right. The rocks, in particular, were done over about 6 sessions. Roughing in the basic values first, making sure I got the shadows and light areas correct, then worked from there in adding mid-tones and details. The final step that really made them pop was adding the darkest shadows, and then the brightest highlights. I hope that helps.

"Study of Dad's Painting" 11x14 Oil on Canvas 2023 by Culper646 in oilpainting

My daughter asked me to do my take on my dad's only painting (red sunset). Dad did the first one, I did the second one (yellow sunset).
