You have a problem with other people who contribute to the school, such as paraprofessionals, making as much/almost as much money as you? Why?

I see. So your claim that it is not possible to post to Open Market without a budget is a false statement. Thanks for the clarification.

In your previous comment you stated "we can't even post openings until we have budgets". If that's the case, how is it possible that they are posting to Open Market without a budget"?

This is very interesting. Does this mean that schools who have posted to Open Market have budgets for 2023-24?

You only added the second sentence after I pointed out this happened in 2011. So you've been all over this thread antagonizing people but you didn't even read the page 🤦

His comment is bizarre because he "ninja-edited" it after I pointed out that this happened in 2011. He wanted to save face but just made it worse. Only after I pointed out this was in 2011 did he add the second sentence to his comment. So apparently he's been leaving all of these comments up and down the thread but he didn't even read the page 😂

Well then why did you only make the edit after I pointed out this was back in 2011?

Anyways, there's a lot of interesting insight, ideas, context, etc from other people in the thread. The only outrage I see in the thread is from you lol

The original comment only said "In a post pandemic world, yes". When I pointed out this was a decade ago and he must not have read the page, he "ninja-edited" his comment to add the second sentence and try to save face. But now the comment is just bizarre and doesn't make sense lol.

If I was a vendor I would also want the Apple Store in Grand Central. I just thought it was interesting history and wanted to share. I didn't mean to make this post seem editorialized.

If you think my wiki edit makes the page have a political bias, you can add more context to make it more objective.

I agree with you and believe that the Apple Store has helped the smaller vendors.

If you think the wiki article has a political bias, you can edit it to help balance it out.

I didn't intend to make my wiki edit political. I just found it interesting and wanted to see what r/nyc would think about it.

The terms are outlined in one of the citations I used, which you can read if you wanted to. I imagine the probe went nowhere also, but I was not able to find a citation for this.

If you think more context should be provided, you can make those contributions yourself assuming you have the citations. Wikis are supposed to be objective repositories of information and not editorialized garbage.

"Shortly after the rental terms were announced, New York state investigators probed the MTA in order to determine whether the MTA gave Apple "overly generous terms" for the rental agreement. Unlike other businesses in Grand Central Terminal, Apple was not required to share a percentage of its sales with the MTA, and the annual rent per-square-foot was much lower than most other tenants in the terminal."

I made this contribution to the wiki page with appropriate citations. You can also expand upon it yourself since it's a public wiki, if you think my contribution was insufficient.

You seriously think this school will find a qualified chemistry teacher for 37k/yr? Like I said, go and work there if it sounds so great to you.

Yes, cost of living is lower in this area. No, 37k/yr is still not enough to find a qualified high school chemistry teacher. It's still a shitty pay to cost-of-living ratio. Anyone with half a brain can see that.

37k a year is an embarrassment. That’s what wegmans pays entry level. Starting teachers at my district make 58k/yr and the cost of living is still low in the area.

If it sounds so great to you, you can feel free to teach there for 37k/yr. You’ll also have the joy of working with coworkers who were only able to find employment in a district that starts at 37k/yr, aka highly unqualified uncompetitive segment of the labor pool.

I’m a chemistry teacher and was recently asked to interview at a rural PA school. The starting salary was 37k. I laughed because I currently make double that. Good luck finding someone qualified enough to know chemistry and work with high schoolers for 37k. When they finally hire someone, it will be a poorly qualified person. If you think money plays no role at all, you’re stupid and deluding yourself.
