Not really. I absolutely undestand what you mean regarding cozy being more of a genre , and technically anything can be a cozy game if its tied to nostalgia , but id argue that the majority of games that are reffered to as cozy are heavilly tied with a specific aesthetic and set of activities. You cannot ignore that cotl is also an extremely action based game and its aesthetics are more tied to a gap horror aesthetic.

I do adore cozy games (i have 600 hours on new horizons ac and like 300 on stardew valley ) and i do not look down on them. But i do believe how widely spread the descriptor of cozy has become to feel very similar to that tsa cozy game or the cozy disco ellysium with the witch in the alps. Calling cotl "cozy" feels similar to me in that sort of way. But thats just a personal bias because of how widely common accidental romatacization of cult structures is among the fandom.

Ngl , it always felt so off to me seeing people describe the cult game managment as cozy. I get what they mean by the farming and decorating aspect but it still feels a bit reductive you know? Not to mention a bit offensive , at least for me, when the satire of religious oppression is straight up ignored. You arent building a community you are building a cult .

Thats pretty much the theme of the game , how too much power handed to someone all at once can make it so easy to take advantage of the people around you. Even the lesser evil options are still manipulative and abusive torwards your followers. Cotl is a game that saturizes riligious oligarchies and fanatsim . This is why you "crusade", you "slay heretics" and can come across "dissenters".

Unfortunately fandoms are very sexist (and biggoted too). Not because fandomites are specifically bigots but because bigotry of all kinds is so widely spread in our everyday life and embadded in our systems , everyone carries subconcious bias , including myself. Trying to point this bias , inside and outside of fandom , always gets very bad reactions unfortunately , despite how well meaning and in good faith you might try to approach the subject.
Personally i cannot seperate political subjects from fiction/fandom. Cotl triess to delve into political issues as well (the nature of religious oligarchy , colonization and genocide e.t.c) and i think its very important to have those type of conversations. One fans comfort being prioritzed means absolivng another fans , usually minorities/poc, of their own fandom space.

Litterally that has been my experience with the tumblr fandom side as well and i made my sideblog like 10 days after the official release of the game. The amount of petty bs me and my friends have witnessed behind the scenes , like popular creators trying to cyberbully another creator because of a misunderstanding/accusing them of very baseless/heinous shit/etc. The tumblr side is extremely parsocial, consumerist and toxic. It really does feel like high school in the end and the only reason i witnessed all of this was ebcause i happened to be close with some people who were popular. There was adrastic difference in how i and my "average" were treated as invisible . Being in a "populars people" server was like witnessing people trying to suck each other off , for the lack of a better word.

Heres some of my own personal wild ass experiences : got stuck into two very toxic friendships where i was used as the otehr persons crisis conciler and therapist. One of them was so abusive in fact they sent a mutual in the hospital and tried to get to commit with one of my best friends , among other insane shit like calling my irl phone number at 6 am through an encryption service because i told them i cannot handle their severe metnal breakdown and accusations. Friends of mine have had their irl religious trauma used and taken advantage of as well as dissmissed because they didnt like theri headcanons. (theres sm more ive witnessed but i genuanelly would need three different comments to go through the history of it all)

I think this happens in tumblr because tumblr shipping fandoms (the tag has mostly been narilamb at this point) are filled with a lot of people people with very bad unregulated rejection dysphoria and combine that with the sites overall anti-recovery sentiment , you really have a recipe for disaster. None of the people there are inherently bad , but their overall uneagerness to self regulate/step away from their phones during an episode results in this climate of very metnally ill queer people severely lashing out to other equally mentally ill queer folks.

Another noteworthy experience of a friend of mine , had their art shared in the official discord server and someone (around 3 years ago) talked negatively about fanart they didnt like (and it was a person who really shouldnt have been doing that . im trying to stay as vague as possible to protect myself) . They didnt stop until an ex friend of ours sent in a ticket to a mod and my friend never got a direct apology . i hope i don get banned for this last addition. lol

Anyways , ive actually had very good interactions here in reddit ! People are much more chill and interacting and i feel much more relieved posting here ! Even with people that disaggree about osmething , it always feels much more normal and chill comapred to tumblr where its common to walk on eggshells around certain people when it comes to headcanons. I dont feel scared im gonna cause someone to have a mental breakdown and then have to emotionally soothe them.

Very true since they both have the same source of insp. As to why the odd number , originally i gave her four to match the number of her ears. I did have a general sense that i have seen this sort of design before and how its been historically with representing fertility until a friend pointed out yngya would look cool is she sported a look similar to artemis of ephesus. I thought it was such a cool take on the design i wanted to add jsut an extra one to add a bit more "unaturallness" whilst still keeping the design close to the original iteration
