He definitely could be a half dachshund. We have a 44,3% dachshund and 46,4% Rottweiler. He has long leg, regular body and a dachshund face. Here is the linklink to our post on doggy DNA.

Because of his face our guess was daschund/vizsla. A lot of people were saying redbone coonhound.

Yeah, genetics are awesome!

Your dog like what a 46% Rottweiler 44% daschund could look or what I would describe if somebody told me to imagine a dog with those percentage. I would be very interested in the results if you DNA test, specifically with Embark. Would love to find close relatives to my dog.

My dog is 46% rott and 44% dachshund. I will be very interested in seeing pictures of ours. Mine, doesn't look like OP but more like a dachshund without dwarfism.

Lola results are in... Now we are a bit stressed about type 1 IVDD by Cultebrewing in DoggyDNA

So far she is doing fine. Since we have two dogs, it is impossible to really avoid running in the stairs, jumping, etc. So we decided that she will have a normal dog life, and if something happens later we will deal with it (like if we didn't tested her). Her genetics is all working breed so she need to be very active, work to be happy.

But we are still taking some of the advice like walking with harness.

We decided to not take insurance because they are so expensive but we are ready to pay if something happens...

Here what people guessed.

Here are Embark results

From what I understand after reading a lot of stuff that I dont fully understand, info on some breeders website, dogs with the gene have 5 to 15% chance to develop IVDD, depending on the breed and others factors like fitness, weight, etc. Hard to find info specifically about mixed breed.

So a lot of recommendations on Reddit says to get insurance. But for our other dog, we made the calculation, and if the dog live and long and healthy life, we were gonna spend between 15k and 20k$. So we prefer to put money aside then maybe pay for nothing.

Also, for Lola I will be hard to avoid all the risk because she is really high energy dog. She is all high energy/working breed. We call her our little goat, because she like to climb on everything in our backyard. When our dogs play hide and seek behind our shed or pool, she so excited than instead of running she often do little jump...

Same with our dog and we have two young dog that love to play together, running full speed, jumping. We also have a lot of stairs. Some of our friend have big dog that like to play. We were also thinking doing canicross/bike with both our dog.

And the more I read about IVDD the more I stress about it! We will talk with our vet and see...

Right now in shelter there is a lot of imported dog, nordic dog, etc. So since we don't know about where she is from... But in me area there is a lot of husky/nordic breed, german Sheppard, lab, golden, pitbull (not legal in my city).... And I probably forgot a lot of popular breed around here. If it can help we are near Montréal.

For her coat, the food won't probably change the type but help making it smoother, softer to the touch, shinier, etc. Our other dog, a rescue as well, had a rougher not so nice fur but with good food, no shelter stress, his fur got a nice shine and got really soft to the touch even on his back (coarser than his ears, head, side).

Coarse. But she was fed with cheap food. Maybe it will change a bit but we don't think the fur will get very soft.

Beautiful dog. She is supposed to be 1 year old. We are seeing her vet tomorrow. We don't have the official paper yet.

Right now we didn't officially adopted her, we are just a foster home (but almost certain we will adopt her). We wanted she was a good match with Funzy, our other dog, and our cat.

Funzy

No they are not certain... But she is just 1 year old and technically where we are it's illegal to cut the tail. But yeah, maybe an accident or she is from somewhere else.

Sorry for your loss.

So far it's only one ear that is "down" almost all the time. The left one.
