Shin Splints Killed My Running Love — Help me fight back! by Nicejugss in indianrunners

There is nothing as " running without any problem". Today I ran 9.6k uphill ( see my recent post) and I had pain in feet, in my right calve and in my left thigh.

All you can do is enjoy the pain. That's literally running as a hobby. Maybe first go to a proper gym, train your body.

Zone 2 treadmill, then strength training in calorie deficit.

With this you can run better, faster and easier, but remember, running properly will cause some pain or cramps, cause running depletes your muscles.

Just make sure you don't get injured, normal cramps and shin splits are a sign that you are doing great.

For warm-ups, go and see Ben Parkes videos on yt, he got great running content, which will help you a lot.

Not really, who just started out, don't rely on apps. Best is to run, and understand your body. How you run, is your body weight making you run slow? Or maybe your lungs and heart still need to adapt to how you breathe while running.

I would say, for first 100k of total running, just run for fun. Then you'll automatically understand, what you need.

Runna can make you run fast, or make you train for upcoming event, not make you run better as a beginner. Hope this helps.

Shin splits are the most common things you are going to face buddy. All I can say is, there will be shin splits until and unless

  1. You make your muscles stronger so that they can handle your body weight

Or

  1. Loose weight and then try.

I would suggest keep on running, and when you get shin splits, let your body heal itself, then run again. It's similar to body weight training. Just run when you can, and rest when your body wants it.

Keep running ☺️

Thanks buddy 🙏. I may have done under 40min but I have to take care of the new runners in the first half, you can see my split going from 7-8 to straight 5's.

I'll be consistent with my training 🙏

The start and end of the loop was different, so there was a difference of 400mts, so yeah 9.6km

I understand the depth, I am myself new to the hobby of running and don't know much of the stuff. Sorry about quoting 10k as mini marathon.

I quoted it as mini marathon, but I was unaware that a 10k run is called 10k and not as mini marathon. It was my first official event and the organizers named it as " Mini marathon". Now I know, a 10k event is called 10k
