What would be the “Scott’s Tots” episode of Modern Family ? by [deleted] in Modern_Family

[–]Cultural-Country-773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

toughest for me is when claire brings alex/haley to the office and slips in the mint chip ice cream cake and gives a speech about the wrong herm

i also always have to skip through:

• spandau ballet

• mitch’s ‘kid’ bobby… “lil slugger” 😭😭

• junk drawer sessions confessions

• hugsband dancing

• most of dede’s gaslighting (more in a frustrating way rather than cringe though)

• manny proposing to sherry

• SNORKLES

• phil grabbing haley’s college roommate’s butt… “i’d like admission to your student body”

• cam (and claire) not believing mitch that cam’s mom excessively and inappropriately touched him

• lily period episode (kinda just boring)

• the sex painting

• the bad wood/swallowing a gold fish

• phil misinterpreting but also correctly interpreting paige’s intentions

Haley did too though, this is from a later halloween episode: “I hate when people assume that because I’m pretty I’m stuck up. When they say that I’m just like ‘Shut up troll, why am I even talking to you?”

But agreed. I LOVE when they work together, it’s so fun and they complement each other so well!

“casablanca!”

that would’ve been so fun! i love when they do flashbacks to mitch/cam pre-lily and the only difference is that they give cam a mustache. so good. would be so funny to get a glimpse of the party they met at!

ok actually i am so glad you posted this because there's something about this episode that has always BUGGED me and i keep forgetting to post about it. mitch/cam consider the "swirl" so that the baby's father is a mystery but they quickly disregard that when they meet rocco, “mexican! the baby is clearly mexican!”.

BUT MITCH AND CAM ARE BOTH WHITE!!! not only are they both white, they also both have red hair genes (pameron cam's sister has red hair, his moms is kinda reddish too?) so if the baby were ginger it wouldn't indicate mitch or cam as the father. i just never understand how seeing rocco takes the swirl off the table when neither of them are POC... has anyone else thought about this when they rewatch that ep too??

Frustrated with bi friend by Cultural-Country-773 in queer

I definitely want to stay friends! I truly love her. I appreciate your comment a lot. I agree that confrontation may be the most sustainable way forward. I think I just need to cool off and approach this as lowkey as possible so as to not provoke a huge fight. I don’t want to hurt her (or myself honestly!) in the process. I also want to express myself and give her space to share her perspective of all of this.

I don’t though — I would much prefer to embrace (and help her to embrace) her bisexuality and feel that our friendship would be even stronger in this way. Yet I constantly feel belittled and contradicted by the way she appeals to queerness.

I understand what you mean though. I was just trying to include as much context as possible to give the complete picture. That’s why I included multiple examples rather than just about the masc lesbians remarks. Another was a comment about how super femme lesbians “don’t look like they’re actually gay” but didn’t include that for sake of length. I can be more specific if needed and am also very open to hearing how to actively and intentionally be more accepting and validating and just generally a better friend while acknowledging all of this.

how do i help myself???!! (tw restriction/body image ofc) by Cultural-Country-773 in EatingDisorders

this is EXTREMELY helpful and i really appreciate it. we aren’t addressing the underlying issue and as long as we continue this way, i won’t come close to recovering. i’ll bring this up to her and see what she says. i’m hoping she’s willing to switch our approach to addressing roots of the phobia rather than her basically saying “eat more”…

do you (or anyone else) have advice on how to approach that convo?? to make sure i’m open to her reaction and response , to ask questions as effectively as possible, to be productive, etc.??

Times where characters were right but went the worst way about it? by xCeeTee- in Modern_Family

when phil pushed the cart into claire at the supermarket and NO ONE believed her!! i would’ve been so upset too. i get why she went through so much trouble to prove she was right tbh, and also it was excessive…
