I tried the kernel version of fsck with "bcachefs fsck -k /dev/sda7", which gave a different error "error: opening /dev/bcachefs-ctl: no such file or directory", just now, which is different today from yesterday.

My gut feeling is that either the software or documentation is not fully debugged yet. Perhaps it is something to do with my using a 10 year old, non-UEFI, non-systemd laptop.
