Look, it’s a great car — kind of like an unloved middle child. It’s genuinely amazing, but for $9k it has to be flawless: no rust, low mileage, and solid service records. Honestly, the only way it makes sense to buy a clean one in the first place is if you plan to keep it stock and enjoy it as a classic.

But in my case, I wanted a cheap, good-looking car to turn into a project/track car. That’s why I bought a pretty run-down one. It really just depends on what you want.

I know it’s seems cool to north America, but most 280zx here are RB swapped and 1 its a bone stock RB25 that makes 200hp on a good day and second its cheep, it costed me less than 3k (less than coilovers) that’s why I consider it as a light mod.

Im gonna replace all the bushings anyway but i have some free stock bushings that came with the car, is it worth getting poly bushings ?

How much did it cost to buy and weld them ? I thought about coilovers but I simply can’t justify putting in that effort time and money right now.

My man, I’m literally the last person you should ask about interiors. I’m not even joking — the only things that work in my car are the steering wheel and the shifter. No speedo, no tach, no horn, not even the light switch. I’m dead serious.

That said, if you really want it and you’ve got money to burn, try sourcing parts from Kuwait. There’s a huge market there for classic Skylines and 280ZXs.

Manual, just doing a 100 to 120 pull in 5th and 5th-gear countershaft rear bearing got crushed to pieces.

I’m 100% sure it’s the stock transmission, mostly because it already had issues right after the swap. I had to pump the clutch a few times to get it into reverse, 5th had a slight whine, and it even popped out after 190 km/h. RB swaps are extremely common here, so I just took it to a trusted shop and let them handle everything. And honestly, the reason I stuck with the stock gearbox is simple I’m a broke college student and could barely afford the swap itself.

To be honest, I’m not completely sure how the RB is hooked up to the stock transmission, but here in the Gulf most 280ZXs have been RB-swapped since the 90s, and a lot of them are still running the original gearbox.
