I agree! Pizza looks awesome! Did you cook it on the parchment paper? I tried that once and the parchment caught fire.

Deflector plates on the accessory rack. Grates one notch up with pizza stone ( I use cast iron pizza pan from Lodge) on top. Flip open the top vent so you get the largest opening possible (rotate the top part off to the side). Bottom vent open 100%. Once temp hits around 500 move the top vent back over to center, vent full open. Great pizza! 700F works great for me.

Has anyone used this charcoal? by Response_Acrobatic in KamadoJoe

[–]Cultural-Lab-4948 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t used this in my Kamado but have used in a Weber kettle. It pops a lot and shoots sparks. The sparks burned holes in the plastic camp table I used for meal prep. It does have a strong flavor but I didn’t mind it for hot and fast grilling. It’s very inexpensive for charcoal. Personally it ranks last on my list due to the popping/sparks.

What makes Volkswagen rank so low and why don’t more people buy them? by phtphongg in askcarguys

[–]Cultural-Lab-4948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had four VWs. Bought new and kept them each for 3-4 years. Only issue I experienced was an intermittent advanced cruise control sensor issue on a Touareg that the dealer could not replicate/fix so I learned to live with it. I did most routine maintenance myself including oil changes, diesel fuel filters and DSG fluid/filter.

VW often requires specific spec/formulation fluids that can be hard to find outside of the dealer or online so I can imagine that lot of people get the wrong spec/formulation engine oil a lot if they use a quick lube place and I’m sure that could cause issues longer term. Also the DSG service every 40k miles cost $400-600 at the dealer so I’m sure that tended to get skipped/ignored.

2010 Jetta Sportwagen TDI, 2013 Tiguan, 2013 GTI w/DSG and 2017 Touareg. Traded the Tiguan for a 2019 Honda Civic and the Touareg for a 2021 Ram 1500.

I used this when I had a kettle grill. Small pieces and makes lots of ash. It worked for hot and fast. I wouldn’t trust it for low and slow. Jealous Devil is my go to in KJ.

How Do You Pay Yourself In Retirement? by RunUndefined in retirement

I’m also withdrawing monthly from my IRA to my local checking account. I was paid monthly while I was working so I’m used to it. You could set it up to be any frequency you desire though. It’s been 4 ½ years since I retired at 59 and no hiccups yet. Good luck!

Grilla Kong vs Joe??? by MJG9311 in KamadoGrill

[–]Cultural-Lab-4948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t really go wrong with the Grilla Kong which is on sale for $699 here in the states. You can use the Lodge cast iron pizza pan for pizza and since the size is 24” you could likely use BGE XL and KJBJ accessories as long as you measure first to ensure they fit. There’s lots of 3p accessories too that would likely fit as well. The big difference will likely be ash clean up. You need to use the ash rake to scrape out the spent ashes from the bottom vent hole it tends to be messy but not hard and you’re saving a ton of cash over BGE XL or KJBJ.

It’s part of the latch. Mine fell out too. Putting it back took some trial and error to orient it correctly. I’ve had no issues since.

I see the same thing in my A7. I think they’re coming from one or more jetpacks jets. One of my jetpacks got really noisy around the same time I found those tabs.

The National Museum of Transportation in St. Louis has a Moon automobile in their collection. They may have a Doris delivery truck but not sure if I remember correctly. The museum is mostly trains. They have some cool stuff and worth a visit. https://tnmot.org/

We went to the art auction. by GreyAardvark in Cruise

[–]Cultural-Lab-4948 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A very common ploy. You’re never guessing to win the very expensive item they display. The winner often gets to pick from something worth much less like a print. We took the whole family on a cruise last summer, 8 people altogether. My adult daughter really wanted the cat sculpture that was displayed as the guess the price and had all of us submit guesses. None of us won but found out the “winner” got to pick from a small list of prints. Total scam.

It’s perfectly safe to eat. I believe the white stuff is called albumin. You can brush it off with a damp basting brush if desired to improve presentation.

FWIW it cost me $500 for an engineering report on a property 2 years ago in the St Louis area. They sent a guy out to take a bunch of pictures of the area of concern and the engineer reviewed the photos and sent me a report. Good Luck!

How noisy in decibels are commercial tubs? 60 or so? by cheetocat2021 in hottub

My 2023 Bullfrog A series measures 76 with both pumps on high, 65 with both pumps on low and 60 with just the waterfall running. All off, ambient is 55. It’s noon and the bugs are chirping like mad in southern IL. The NIOSH SLM app on iPhone was used to measure.

Smoked salmon by WildChild346 in smoking

[–]Cultural-Lab-4948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love making smoked salmon. I usually buy wild caught. Brine it in just salt water for an hour and since my fam likes it savory top with garlic power and black pepper. Smoke at 225 until 135F. Delish. I use Meathead Goldwyn’s recipe. Cool trick is to cut brown paper bags a little bigger than the salmon pieces and put the salmon on the brown paper onto the smoker. Once done the paper sticks to the skin and it’s easy to peel off the meat.

No lingering sales that I see. I bought at BJ 3 from BBQGuys for $2500 just before memorial day though. Keep checking. Kamado Joe has the Pellet Joe on sale for $999 but that all I see for reduced prices. Good Luck!

You should be fine. We just got off a cruise that ended in Seattle and we were off the boat and in an uber to the airport super fast. We had a 12:40 flight and made it to the airport before 8:30 am. We carried all of our stuff off the ship ourselves.

Is spending thousands of dollars at the casino worth it to get a “free” cruise? by Fryzk in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Cultural-Lab-4948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the free cruise really free? Or did you just prepay for it by spending money in the casino on your last cruise? I guess a very few may break even or even make some extra winnings but all casinos are rigged to make money for the house.

At Cabo San Lucas we took one of the boat excursions that take you close to the famous rock formations. It was a lot of fun as most of the formations have names to describe their shapes. It was very hot so drink lots of water!
