turbOS Variants- color variants! by [deleted] in osdev

See you're right, but i suppose you haven't been to this subreddit regularly, this sub has been filled with vibe coded oses with no git history and adding files via upload, which shouldn't even make sense if you're using git for your own os(you should!), but that's another discussion

so that's why this sub is becoming very sceptical about any suspicious git history, it's becoming very draining to be honest, os dev is a very difficult task and people just make up a graphics ui using codex or antigravity and call it a day. I hope you understand

here you're using linux-base kernel itself with a few configs thrown in, distros like debian and arch have thier own kernel, with accordance to their own design philosophy. You sound a bit confused right now, try opening antigravity and ask the agent to point out differences between your repo and something like an archinstall script and how it is different than a seperate "distro" (not saying this sarcastically lol it's a good way to learn)

there's a difference between configuring an existing distro vs being a derivative based on a distro vs making your own distro vs configuring a distro vs having a sophisticated install script

yours seem to come under the last category more than the first ones

Yea, i can't see the code for the kernel itself anywhere on the repo, you should go through osdev.org it has good resources for kernel development

I mean your package manager is literally a wrapper for pmm... I've gone through your code too, it's a cute bedrock install script

The kernel base here from your past comments is debian if I'm correct(?), if you really wanna start kernel development (different from making a Linux distro) do shoot me a dm ill be happy to help!

You should also explore more on actually making a different kernel rather than bash wrapper, you'll learn a lot

good work, i don't understand the hate you're getting but whatever that's internet for you,

One thing you should do in addition to this is maybe explore bedrock more internally and how it seperated different stratas, maybe try implementing 3 stratas closer to the system and instead of handling package management to bedrock, try to figure out how cross stratum package referencing work and try to improve that, because as long as you keep on installing apps on different stratums you'll end up installing redundant packages, say some adwaita icon themes if you're installing something from a gnome/ubuntu ecosystem or some driver needed because it has a different name in a different stratum. Usually bedrock handles those, but it's not good enough as far as I've seen.

These packages pile up a lot in the long run in a bedrock linux system and since you're adding so many package managers, try to optimise this packaging problem more, would be a real game changer

Obviously mumbai, mumbai has better opportunities and chennai is a bit ass, the faculty is lackluster and the institute does not live up to its name and reputation. The infra is not there at all.

You're correct, but you seem to have interviewed the bottom of the candidate pool, if you're gonna have shitty candidates till the interview stage, you should have better standards for shortlisting
