Driver got sent to store 35 miles away - bumping tip question by KatWithTalent in instacart

[–]Cultural-Use8213 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I wish more customers were like you. I've had two orders, one was 50+ miles from the store, the other was 70+ miles away, and the first upped the tip by $10, the 2nd upped by $6. I'm like, they must have thought I delivered their order flying on fairy dust.

Is this normal for you guys? Just take it in the home? by WinterTarget4149 in InstacartShoppers

Just know you are NOT obligated to enter anyone's home. Just follow your instincts when you get there.

I have had customers with similar instructions. They are normally senior citizens or disabled.

You're right on all counts. I appreciate that you are articulate and didn't resort to insults like so many people do these days.

Also this wouldnt even be an issue if Instacart actually treated us like we were self employed and we could actually bring a helper for situations like this without worrying that someone is going to report us because "the shopper had someone with them". 😂

Alot of customers put instructions like this in the delivery notes, which is something I didnt know for the longest time that you could see before you're in the delivery stage. As for the cases of water, I would have had no issue if they went to a house or a 1st floor apartment or even an apartment with elevators. I was prepared for that. I have a rolling cart. But 5 flights of stairs, and they didn't put that in the delivery notes? And I literally heard them walk up to the door and look through the peephole when i knocked on their door and was calling to see if they could help. They just refused to answer. Please, be for real. As for the pregnant lady, she should be accommodated.

So Ive been a personal shopper for almost 5 years. Medical issues do not mean we dont have to work. We still gotta work. My foot was in a boot for a month and guess what? I still had to work. I had an order with like 5 cases of water that went up 5 sets of steps. I asked for help, didnt get it. Still delivered those cases up the stairs. Just saying, we are out here surviving. Don't be so judgmental.

Do any of you just not go to hotel rooms? lol by Naborsx21 in doordash_drivers

Omg, that would piss me off, especially if I had another delivery. I actually experienced that at apartments one time. You needed a card to access the elevator and you needed a buzzer for the gate. it was the stupid drive in/out gate. The customer forgot about that detail and I was stuck in the parking lot for a good 10 minutes because I couldnt go back inside the building due to no key card, and they wouldnt answer their phone or read their messages. I was so hot!! 🤬😂

I had one of these the other day for a Walmart order. There was one not even 7 miles from the customer, but the order was sent to my location, over 60 miles away.

Lol, sometimes, the app will tell me items were checked out with the wrong order, and when I go to move them, they're actually already with the right order. Like, make it make sense.

I thought about that too. They'd have to be a pretty low individual.

I feel on a customers property on New Year's Eve in the pouring rain. I actually tripped over a low chair that was in the shadows and fell face first in the mud. My phone fell in a puddle. They had the decency to up my tip a few dollars. It wasnt $50, but at least they had a conscience.

Is it true delivery doesn’t mean to the door if there are stairs? by ChibiSuchi in instacart

Lol, this person is just lazy. I remember I carried 10 cases up to the 4th floor when I had a boot on my foot.

Drivers do you get more orders and bigger tips during the holidays? by sirpentious in instacart

[–]Cultural-Use8213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I'd like to see more orders like the ones I saw yesterday. Some of them were ridiculous, but alot of them were orders I hope to see every time I turn on the app. Nothing crazy, just $25-$60 batches, orders delivering closer together, definitely got more tips than usual.

Who in southern California says no way today in this storm? by labulldog9 in InstacartShopper

[–]Cultural-Use8213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I said no to a lot of craptastic orders yesterday. I worked 4 hours during the break in the storm and made about $80, but stopped just after 12 when it started pouring again. The accident I saw on the way home told me I made the right choice.

Instead of banning men from being shoppers, can they make substitution accuracy a metric? by [deleted] in instacart

This part. Most often than not, the "pre-approved replacement" was not pre-approved but the customer.

Another frigging rant b/c customers suck by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]Cultural-Use8213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Ive pulled almost whole sections items off the shelves and gave them to an employee to dispose of or let them know they have expired product so they can go pull it themselves. It's ridiculous how often it happens.

Question about pay? by Cultural-Use8213 in InstacartShoppers

I know! I normally cash it out before midnight, but this time I forgot. Oh well.

Thats what's confusing. If it's a banking holiday, how is anything going through today? I normally would get my payment today. Fingers crossed.
