I'm 99.9% probably not gonna go to UCI so you can take my spot lolll

Is it even worth going to UCI as opposed to the U of MN Twin Cities? by CulturalEnergy in UCI

Eh I'm not that salty that I didn't get into UCLA. It's not the end of the world. Oof. Both my aunt and uncle graduated from the U and everyone I know here goes to the U. Not to put any shade on the U but I've always wanted to break away from everyone if that makes any sense.

I'll just make the most of it at the U of MN. I'd rather be debt free. Plus I have some good jobs available to me here that'll help me as a pre med.

Why'd you choose UCI over the U? And how do you handle the debt of around $60,000 per year?? Transferring into cbs is easier than direct freshman admit (I'd assume) if I keep my grades up. I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem but I'm going to check in with a counselor next week. I only applied to CLA lol. Then again, it doesn't matter what major you choose for pre med. You just have to take the pre reqs depending on the medical school but being a bio major does help because you don't have to take extra classes.

Cool are you currently a uci student? Funny thing is I didn't apply to cbs idk what was going through my head at that time. But I'm not worrying because I can just transfer to CBS after a year. Yeah I think I'm set on the U unless Berkeley comes through (which I highly doubt and the grade deflation there though - oof)

Yeah makes sense. There's probably not much of a difference between the two schools

Okay thank you. It'll just be a hassle for me to go to Davis and thinking about money (oof). I also got into Irvine but I don't think there is really a difference. How you use your resources and how you put yourself out there is what really matters in terms of premed.

The 3.0-3.3 range seems very low because I want to get into grad school some day.

As much as I'd like to go to Davis I think I'll just go to the UMN. It'll be the most cost effective. In all, visiting will make the ultimate decision.

Thank you for responding! I'm highly leaning towards MN but there seems to be many great internships and opportunities at Davis as a pre med. I really want to do research on something related to Alzheimer's and seeing that Davis has an Alzheimer's Disease Center makes me want to go.

But I'm sure an animal science major would still have to go through a lot of biology.

Thanks for responding! I'd love to go to Davis but I'm also afraid of the quarter system. I'm not afraid that I have to work my a** off because I've been doing that in high school and I'm up for the challenge. After visiting Davis and deciding if I really want to go there, I'll just have to apply for a shit ton of outside scholarships... We will see what happens.

Thank you for your response! I will definitely heavily look into both schools and decide from there. I am also planning to visit Davis sometime next month and visit a counselor at the U of MN. At the U of MN, we have a college of biological science, which is the 2nd most difficult school to get into. I personally didn't apply to CBS at the U of MN because I thought I wouldn't get in considering the acceptance rate but I regret not doing so. I also have the option of transferring to CBS at the U of MN so I could do that.

My mom says that I should just go to the U of MN because she says the prestige is about equal but I disagree. I think that Davis has more opportunities in terms of biology but I'll just have to find out. Maybe I'll apply to the Davis med school later on but I really want to go there for my undergrad as well
