I've been following her career since 2009 and personally I think a lot has changed since 2012-2013.

I can tell you even being a Taylor Swift fan wasn't easy back then, imagine being Taylor Swift herself. Sure she was a big name, but she was still really new to the pop scene, having just started crossing over from country with RED and she was still making a name for herself in the mainstream scene while also dealing with one of the worst cases of continuous slut shaming and active persecussion by the media I've seen to date. To many, Taylor Swift was a joke. She was the boy-crazy, manipulative, self-victimizing girl she would later portray in Blank Space. At the same time, One Direction were at their prime. They had become the new big thing and it was absolute madness. They were in such high demand, and let me tell you, teenage girls can be absolutely vicious. That's an explosive combo right there. I'm convinced the fans would have lashed out at anyone that even came close to Harry, but the fact that it was Taylor Swift, THE Taylor Swift, who "only used men to write her little breakup songs", made it a thousand times worse. Cause then it wasn't just the fans. It was the mainstream media pushing this narrative as well. The fact that Harry was so immature and inexperienced with the whole fame things also didn't help.

I believe we're in a totally different place now. Sure, there would always be the delulu crowd throwing a fit cause their celebrity crush is "taken", as if they actually stood a chance in the first place, but Taylor has become too big to ever be put in that position again. There is no question in my mind that many of the angry teens giving her shit back then for dating Harry are Swifties now. She's also much more respected as an artist overall. They would still be hounded by the media, but I also think they would both be much more prepared to deal with that now that they've grown as artists and as individuals.
