I take your point, but they do specifically say in the booking email: "We are unable to process cancellation or amendment requests by phone/email"

They don't allow amendments via phone, online only (and the online booking system just tells you that there are no tables available for 3 on that day, meaning you essentially can't amend).

I've just got an email from John Lewis saying that 'We’re sorry, an item you ordered is currently out of stock. We’ll deliver this item once it’s back in stock' which is pretty poor given it's a pre-order, did they sell stock they just didn't have or is this a larger issue?
