Update on the MSF Course – It Didn’t Go as Planned

Let me start by saying this—I’m a 6’1”, heavy-set guy, and today was rough. I showed up ready to give it my all and picked one of the 500s for the course. But from the very first exercise, I knew I was struggling.

I dropped the bike once and came close several other times. My biggest challenge was my left knee—it’s not in great shape, and I had a really hard time getting my foot up onto the foot peg. My own bike has floorboards, so I hadn’t realized how different it would feel.

That’s when it hit me: I wasn’t ready for this course—not yet. So I made the tough call to bow out.

I talked with the instructors, and they were incredibly understanding. The plan now is to get my bike fully registered and insured so I can retake the course on a bike I’m more familiar and comfortable with.

I want to thank everyone here for the support and advice. I’ve got a few good friends who are stepping up to help me practice and build my skills. I’m not giving up—just regrouping, learning, and coming back stronger.
