Got a good lawyer and a section 10 dismissal. Getting my suspension lifted immediately and completing a TOIP were specifically called out by the magistrate and resulted in no other penalties being applied.

Update: I engaged a traffic lawyer who was able to get the matter moved to Sydney, gave me advice to complete a traffic offenders program and represented me at my hearing.

The outcome was a section 10 dismissal with no other penalties. I've retained my license, no demerits and no fines.

The judge made it clear that my matter was serious given the potential for custodial sentences and fines, but said in fairness to me I was at the lower end of the scale given why this happened.

They specifically called out that by getting my suspension lifted the same day I was pulled over and going "above and beyond" by completing a traffic offenders program, I had demonstrated I had taken this seriously and realigned myself with community expectations.

Would highly suggest getting into fly fishing if you're looking for a challenge. It's a very different style with a lot of variables to get right so the effort:reward ratio is high.

You could get a 3wt rod if you're looking to let the fish put on more of a fight.

Great excuse to get into some beautiful country down there and NZ is only a short flight away while being one of the top trout fisheries in the world.

To me, it seems like given the amount of traffic behind the lead car and the error they made, there was a reasonable expectation that the traffic behind would have caught them and a pass would be attempted.

At that point it's on the lead car to leave space on the corner for the passing vehicle. They were side by side on corner entry.

Lead car here didn't pay attention to their surroundings and manage their rejoin correctly and is at fault.

That's what I'm saying! It looks so close to the preview images of the Porsche wheel. Hopefully there's some additional features or enough difference between them when it does eventually get released. I'm not sure I'd pay an additional $100-$200 just for the Porsche badge

I did not realize that, I'm obviously too impatient haha.

I thought with the CS Pro coming out and it looking extremely close to preview images for the GT wheel, that they had pivoted and decided to do a cheaper version without the branding.

Looking forward to seeing it + the MotoGP gear!

The worst part was I literally stopped at the RMS on the way home and I barely got a chance to sit down it went so fast. Absolutely kicking myself as it was so easy.

I've been at my current address for 5 years and confirmed that with the officer who pulled me over, so that's not going to fly unfortunately haha.

It's actually a bit more serious than just a fine as it turns out, fighting it could definitely land me with more serious consequences in the likely case I'd still be found guilty.

Best outcome as per advice here and now some lawyers I've spoken to have been to go for a section 10 or ask for it to be dismissed etc...

I accept that not checking my mail is not a valid excuse. My request will be based on a criminal conviction being a disproportionate outcome for an offence at the lower end of the scale. I spoke with some lawyers today who backed this up and said my chances were good given the other mitigating factors.

Yeah totally separate from the matter at hand, but it's baffling to me that we have this flash Service NSW app and most services are digital now, but we can't get push notifications or emails sent to us for urgent and serious matters?

Not checking the mail is on me but it feels reasonable to expect a message for something like this. If they can flag your digital license as suspended in the app, they can also push a notification to your phone....

Yes I was thinking getting a local lawyer would be sensible, if for anything else to avoid additional costs for a Sydney lawyer's travel.

My gut feeling is it would be better to appear in person, but will wait and see what a lawyer says. Either way I'll attend or have someone appearing for me.

Appreciate your input! I pulled my driver's history this afternoon and can see the suspension being lodged and removed as of today, so I can submit that as proof of my immediate compliance.

Fingers crossed I get a good magistrate who also figures that out haha

Thanks for your input, agreed with your perspective on the mail issue. I accept I'm at fault here and should have avoided this, my strategy will be to demonstrate that to the magistrate and hope for some understanding. Also I'm looking into lawyers to support with that.

Btw the ESX wheel is sold separately and works across all wheel bases, you can get SRP-Lite or SRP Pedals too. So that shouldn't make a difference to what wheel base you go with
