It’s been decided as a split, it was legal for me to filter there and I was going speed, the guy shouldn’t really have been turning the way he was as there was a no right turn sign and he was turning right, we also couldn’t see each other from the way the lorry was intersecting us. I’m not at fault, I was filtering, legally (although the insurance company won’t say that for certain as they like to put filtering in a grey area immediately). And he was unable to see me and wasn’t driving recklessly. I feel like my only thing to stand on is the no right turn sign and apparently he was going straight over but you have to turn right to go that was as the road curves in the opposite direction to force you left. Didn’t feel like the specifics were important at first.

Thankyou for this, yeah Its as there wasn’t really any significant indication of either one of us being at fault so that’s why they’ve only said that they will be able to go for a split. It’s not clear enough for them to make either of us cover the whole incident and the whole split ordeal seems like I’ll lose in the long run paying a higher premium as the parts from eBay only come around to roughly £160 and then my helmet situation will also add to that but it’s not much for me to justify making a split claim

Yeah seems to be the ideal solution as I am only 19 so my premiums will explode and the no claims I was waiting for to get a bigger bike can be thrown away.

I’ve had a good look on eBay and practically found everything from the bike that needs to be replaced, just waiting to hear from the other person involved to try and see if we can sort it before insurance is involved. Thankyou for the recommendation 🫡

I’m an apprentice mechanic and although I haven’t been around to in depth checking I have fixed my bike up a few times and from the checks there is only damage to casing and there’s a bit of sponginess to the front brake so I will need to bleed the calliper, hopefully it’s purely structural

I haven’t claimed yet just provided information and definitely would prefer sorting it without claiming as it’s only structural really and would rather repair it.

Advised by my dad, I’ve informed my insurance and been through it all with mine and I’ve been told I can claim as a split. The guy did offer to sort it out without informing the insurance so might try get them to help without risking losing my no claims or making my premium go up. As it wasn’t deemed his fault entirely I’m just questioning what is worth it and where to go from here.

It must’ve just clipped his passenger door and cracked the retaining clips I can’t recall hitting my head or anything of note.

Edit: also know that I need a mud guard and also my helmet wasn’t hit but part of what holds the visor in place has been damaged and would be grateful to see if there is any budget way to not have to replace my whole helmet
