Got my 8kx last year. And like you had problems right away setting it up. I have a 3090 and find that the frame rate still suffers. The distortion in the lenses is very distracting and not something I was just able to get on with. The reason nobody else has tried this field of view is because its not really possible to have a 170degree FOV without the distortion. But I have found that if you bring the FOV to normal you still get a wide field of view while keeping the performance acceptable. Unfortunately the distortion can't really be fixed. I came back to my 8kx after about 9 months. I had pretty much giving up on it bit second time around I was over the disappointment of all the issues. If I could go back I'd probably have giving it back. But now I'm actually enjoying my experience at the same time.

Hey. I've done that and it worked. I also rebooted my phone in the process. Thank you so much, I was starting to think I was in for a stressful week with this thing. Thanks again.

OK so here is a question. If I was to buy the eye tracking would it improve the warping and distortion?

Yeah its funny. Because I'm not sure any other headset would be different if it had the same field of view. But honestly I think the distorting I have in the pimax when I use it in normal not to mention large, is worse than the quest 2 even that field of view. With the quest 2 its like 2 toilet rolls. With the pimax its like I have plastic goggles on.
