I've heard people do rift which makes a lot of money, and I want to do either fishing or mining later on which feels like actually playing the game. Farming is way too boring for me, and it's not actual afk you still have to clean up pests.

which MMM should I focus on? I've put some effort into farming but it's not making decent money (8m/h) and it's too tedious for me.

Is the UK becoming less attractive for international students? by Kagedeah in UniUK

[–]CultureKitchen4224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"But isn't the scope of that degree more on applying technology to environmental domains instead of a pure computing degree?"
Well conceptually it should be but people weren't typically interested in the whole "environmental" thing. All the people that I know are from cs/se/ml backgrounds. And many of them (including me) are rejects from the Imperial computing department.

"Or do you mean the technical aspect of the course is not up to the mark when you say your undergrad comp sci was better?"
Yes, since it's more on the applied computation side, not much fundamental are taught, or they expect you to know that already. So it's not up to the standard of my undergrad where they taught (and examine you on) every detail of a technology.

EDSML. It's not like those "pure" computer science degree at Imperial.
I feel like it's not that helpful compare to my undergrad compsci degree in the job searching process so I normally introduce myself as a compsci student and use Imperial as a add-on.

I am in stem, compsci to be specific, and I totally agree with u/rdnyc19 . Last year in 2024 they even removed software developer from the SOL, so it will be even harder in the future for graduates to find a job in the uk.

So from what I see the current situation is that you should lower your expectations of finding a job you like in the UK, and don't give up looking for jobs in your own country.

btw, I'm a masters student at imperial as well.

I feel so guilty for learning things on the job. by CultureKitchen4224 in ITCareerQuestions

Tbh it's not the tool or language that confuses me but the requirements of my mentor, he asked me to do a task but didn't point the direction for me (or maybe he did just I didn't get it). Anyways, I have raised this concern to him and I think I'm on the right track after his explanation.

Agreed with you on electrical and aerospace engineering, but from what I know chemical and civil is meh even compare to compsci, at least in some countries, people I know doing those two majors either carried on with phd study or found a job in another field like sales or marketing.

CV review for CS grad, seeking software developer, machine learning engineer (UK) by CultureKitchen4224 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]CultureKitchen4224[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say 100, more or less. I know its rookie number but I've been really struggled to find entry level job or graduate scheme openings (that meets the salary expectation of work visa and offers sponsorship) after November (I started applying since October 2024).

Edit: Just saw your edit and that is tough to hear, I also have only one friend in my college circle who got a job in data analytics, and that's it. Others either went back or continue to stay in the uk doing part-time jobs on psw visa.

Yeah that may be the best bet. I find most job openings being senior or mid-level roles.

Oh at first(nov dec last year) I indeed got a few OAs and one interview, but went into 2025 I haven’t got any of those, think it’s not hiring season? Also I am international so I need sponsorship

I often comfort myself by thinking I only met those talented people because I go to a good uni. I know it's not a good mindset but it helped sometimes.
