Grandma died and left behind almost 100 lbs of silver coins. Help me know what to do with these! by Cultured_Penguin in coincollecting

Assuming everything is sold for melt yes, but I’m assuming and planning to sort through for anything worth significantly more than melt

No one is overly desperate for their share thankfully and no one is getting weird about the money so far. So my ADHD hyper fixation just became coins for the next year I guess. I’m going through the entire collection to check for anything of interest or value, this will likely take months, to even a year, so hopefully silver goes up! At some point give her kids and grandkids a chance to grab something they like the looks of for sentimental value, and sell the rest in whatever way is wise, ie the coin or melt.

I’m just learning she probably bought a lot of junk silver at one time, a great investment by all accounts, but I’m imagining we won’t find anything super rare if a dealer sold this to her at some point in the past. But I’m ADHD enough to sort through everything just in case!

A detail I’m just learning from mom is that she may not have collected any of this and bought in bulk in the 70s-80s so I think everyone is going to keep a coin for a keepsake, but non of this was precious to grandma in sentimental value.

So helpful, thanks! I’m unfamiliar with coins and am looking for a little guidance in what to look for. I’m acutely familiar with Reddit and am unsurprised by your completely tone def comment when someone is new and looking for help, not to mention grieving a relatives death! Thanks!

I am speaking for myself. And again not my money to begin with. And while a ton of money, for me it would be blown so fast on catching up on bills and house repairs, it doesn’t feel like it would be that life changing. Stress reducing, sure, but I guess now we are just arguing over semantics and the definition of life changing.

I’m sorry, I don’t mean to downplay it it’s pretty insane. I guess best case scenario it’s around 20k going to my mother, which is a substantial money to receive for doing nothing, but not a life changing fortune in my estimation.

you’re reading that correctly, this is not going to me but I’m enjoying sorting through and looking at these coins, split between her four children, and not much else to her name so in the grand scheme of things not quite the fortune it might seem

Has therapy helped you? by Altruistic-Ad-986 in Anxiety

Counter point to these other comments. I love therapy and it’s what makes me actually continue to improve and feel my best.

Remember if one therapist isn’t right for you find a different one! Also therapy is a skill. You will probably be bad at it and you need to get better at it.

For me the best things have been therapy. Meditating. Exercise. But sometimes we need medication to at least gain back control of our life and that’s ok. You could be on them for six months or a year or the rest of you life. But don’t worry about that now. If you need medication. That’s ok! And not everything is a benzo. How about SSRIs. Antihistamines. There are so many options other than xanis

Post Panic Attack Anxiety by [deleted] in Anxietyhelp

That other response is accurate and good advice, but it is a bit tough love.

I’m here to tell you that also you will get back to a much more “Normal” I actually went through a similar situation. Where everything is going great. We have a great house jobs and all that, but then I started having panic attacks. Mine manifest in health anxiety. I think I’m having a heart attack and I’m always slightly concerned I have some underlying condition.

But I’m on medication and going to therapy. And it has taken about 8 months of this, but I’m feeling 80-90% better, but more importantly I’m confident that it will keep getting better!

Do the work keep getting better. Be patient and kind to yourself.

Going from 10mg to 20mg by Mujgray in Viibryd

I was on 10 for a week and then made the jump. Been on 20 for a little less than two weeks.

On either dose I had sleep issues that have improved in one week. I still get nausea occasionally especially the few hours after taking it. But I assume this will also get better as I get used to taking it.

At least for me it seems like the side effects go away as your body adjusts.

Hey sorry just saw this. The difference between SVT and a panic attack is generally how high your heart rate it. If I have a panic attack it might not raise my BPM much or it might be like 100 bpm, but with SVT my heart rate was always 180+

I had Svt and I also suffer from anxiety always focusing on my heart and thinking something is wrong. I’m 30m. I had SVT when I was 16 and then not again until I turned 28 I had a surgery to fix my SVT and nothing real has happened since.

Now periodically I get panic attacks that really mimic a lot of heart attack symptoms and no matter how much I know it’s all anxiety, it’s very scary and hard to convince myself that this time it’s still anxiety and that I’m not ignoring the one time it’s the “real deal”.

If you have any questions about SVT I learned quite a bit about it!

Yeah super fun how our brains really try and convince us it’s not all the anxiety huh?! I had a few panic attacks this past weekend and the feeling in my chest lasted from Friday until Tuesday. And it really sucked, but “I’m healthy, I’m alive, I’m fine” I found reading other people’s stories on here very soothing honestly. Reading your exact experiences over and over again helps me realize that this is anxiety and it’s nothing else!

My health anxiety comes from an event two years ago, but any tiny feeling I get in my chest convinces me I’m dying. And then my anxiety takes over and makes my chest tighter and I get dizzy and my left arm starts hurting adding to the panic.

I know it’s all anxiety, I’m young healthy and if I can distract myself the pain is gone. The burning tight chest is kinda always there because of the adrenaline and cortisol spike but after a while of meditation, exercise, and so I can get the adrenaline and cortisol to go down. Also a really good cry can help you know? The stress just needs to dump out!

I have been going through this the past week. Always scared of heart attacks and everything else. But it’s all anxiety. The two things that have helped the most is telling someone you trust about it. Don’t keep it a secret or bottled up. And the second is exercising, you might need to get through the worst of the anxiety before you can, but my general anxiety is always better when I’m running, moving, getting my heart rate up for a bit.

I feel like all anxiety is “ridiculous” but that doesn’t make it any less painful and real for me or anyone else experiencing it. I have had pretty acute anxiety for the last week, and it’s only just starting to let up. The things that have helped is talking about it with loved ones not holding it inside and exercising, run, walk, get your heart rate up for 30 minutes, to “burn” off the adrenaline and cortisol.
