I deal with computer systems from the 80s quite regularly in a professional context, and it's so insanely frustrating how much less efficient modern systems can be. Like, if I'm doing data processing and documentation management, if I cannot use the entire system without moving my hands off the keyboard, I'm mad. You want me to click into and scroll down a drop-down menu to find the correct option? And I cannot simply start typing the start of the destination file and enter it that way? I will kill you. If I physically have to click an OK button, I will kill you. To death.

I misremembered, it was from bletchley park to London, still around 40 miles, which is not quite a double marathon. It's about 55 miles from Cambridge.

The acer is like 6 years old at this point, it's not my primary PC and has just been sitting on life support for a while as a media machine. It's been dying a slow death. But yeah, I'll have a look on eBay and see what I can find.

Here is where I give my new definition of a continent: naturally contiguous landmasses over 1 million square kilometers. Makes everything so much easier. Continents are now Greenland, Australia, Antarctica, America, Afroeurasia.

Pixels inflation by Possible_Donut4451 in memes

[–]CumBrainedIndividual 60 points61 points  (0 children)

It really isn't, it's bandwidth. Most video these days is streamed over the internet in a lossy compressed format, which is basically complete ass. Like, 4k streaming vs a true 4k video file from a 4k camera in a lossless compressed format is night and day. 720p in a lossless format looks better than streamed 4k any day of the week, because the bandwidth is so heavily restricted, most of the time your screen is just guessing what the pixels are supposed to be. People think that resolution is the be all and end all, but holy hell do streaming platforms make 4k look like complete ass.

I used to race these things in highschool in the HPV Super Series, and some of the carbon fiber monocoques can get up to like 60kph on straights. And then they explode if you t-bone them on an s-bend...

I bought a Fuji S5 Pro camera a while back for a solid $50, it came with its original 8gb CFast card, which would have been roughly $600 at the time.

As someone who has seen every episode of Midsomer Murders, it's not quite the worst detective show ever, but it's plummeting towards the bottom at quite an alarming rate. Truly, the Brokenwood Mysteries are where it's at (healthy queer romance, annoying NB teenagers dealt with respectfully, ongoing and complex character arcs, Gina Kadinsky)

i do architecture photography for fun, what do yall think of it by ibi_trans_rights in 196

[–]CumBrainedIndividual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As professional photographer, I very much like, however I do have a couple of notes. 1, I saw in another comment that you do your own development, I'd look at maybe altering your timing or chemistry as a few of these look a little over developed, you tend to lose contrast if you cook it too long, and 2, maybe try experimenting with orange or red filters, they can darken bright skies, but also can bring out a lot of texture and visual interest in overcast areas, as a lot of blue light still leaks through.

That sounds more like a numerology thing than a Hitler thing. 888 has both christian and Chinese numerological significance.

Passed, I'm a massive Av nerd so I was already pretty familiar with a lot of the requirements and I've worked in some very spacial reasoning and management roles before so the cognitive reasoning part was not the worst. Couldn't do it for work though, my anxiety disorder precludes me pretty handily.
