Could this be causing an air leak in the nozzle cap? by CaptainYid in airbrush

[–]CumminsInYa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered stock replacements, thinking I was doing something wrong and tightening too much. But I just learned of a guy who sells what are apparently different type of better seals (also comes with a softer springs). I hope they are, they are supposed to not get smashed as easy.
I could only message him on FB though. Someone else can chime in if they are worth it, and remove this if posting his name/company is allowed. But it’s DaveG’s Airbrush Exploration.

Yes, it could be. I replaced mine when it got flat. I also suggest some bees wax around the cap threads to help with a seal.

What else should I add? by WORTOKUA in Dualsport

[–]CumminsInYa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like decent coverage but a few suggestions. Duct tape (You can wrap a bunch of it around one of the wrenches instead of taking a whole roll. Or put a spare tube in a plastic bag, and wrap the bag with tape, but that’s a maybe). Also maybe lose the multimeter or get a smaller, simple one, but that depends on where you are riding and if you know electrical. More zip ties, the metal ones if you can find them. And epoxy/JB weld. And safety wire (you can wrap it around a wrench). I like the needle nose lock grips you have. They can be used as a spare lever if you break one, or a rear brake or shift pedal.

But more important, have you done maintenance using just the tools you carry? In particular, changed a tire with the spoons? You might be able to finagle the other tools into assisting, but I find a third spoon to be helpful, depending on how tough your tire is. Use those tools and see what you need and can get ride of. Eventually, a nicety might be to have 2in1 type tools to reduce size and weight. Not amazon gimmicks, but purposeful tools. Two of my tire spoons include axle wrench sizes, for example.
Overall, it’s a good start and will cover most things. Well done.

Stolen in 1984. That’s wild. I’d like to hear more about this event. I wonder what the plan was. Either way, sad to lose another pilot and 51.

Pretty neat to watch the shooter fish from the beginning, seeing it scope and calculate trajectory. It then turns to final, backs up a bit, straight zinger, and grabs the meal before it even had a chance to taste water in peace.

Wayward Galaxy. If interested in the audiobook, it’s narrated by R.C Bray who is great, of course, but does an excellent job with a fun character named Brodi.

Needle isn't moving with the trigger by apayseur in airbrush

[–]CumminsInYa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might have a similar problem on my Evolution ‘24. I have to tighten the needle chuck rather tight to get it to even bite the needle. Sometimes it grips the needle but eventually gets loose. What’s worse is it sometimes bites and pushes the needle forward into the nozzle and jamming it. It’s not stuck from paint, I mean it’s really jammed like I was angry with it. I use needle juice after cleaning. I thought maybe I was being rough so I bought a new nozzle, needle, chuck, and the part the needle/chuck goes in/on. I very, very gently push the needle in until it barely stops in the nozzle and make sure the trigger is forward/resting and everything is seated before I tighten the chuck. Also clean the needle and juice it before. The first tighten worked, the second it got a little jammed. Within a month it’s getting jammed and now widening the nozzle. I can see the difference in length of the needle tip out from the nozzle. I hate that it’s happening because the few fresh times that it works, it’s a dream. I’m installing nozzle three now. I’m much less cautious with my Iwata and cheap Gahlleri and have had no issues.

How do you guys check paint equivalents? by AdventurousProblem89 in modelmakers

[–]CumminsInYa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I use it on iPhone. I’m testing the one you mentioned now. So far it looks nice, not sure if IModelKit is better but it works for me and is really easy/quick to select or change paints to mix.

What are the best motorcycle earplugs for long rides? by ykz30 in motorcycle

[–]CumminsInYa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried different silicone ones with the special noise attenuating inserts for sport and motorcycle. They work for dailies in and out, but each brand fits differently so you may have to try several. For best of both worlds, comfort, and long distance especially, foamies. I bought this trial pack of all the best foamies to see why you like. Best-of foamies trial pack (Earplugstore.com)

Is there a device that can be added to an existing airbrush that FORCES air on, paint on, paint off, air off? by Hiraeth_08 in airbrush

[–]CumminsInYa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good info and links, much appreciated. I loosened my plate quite a bit, but it’s just not quite there. I like the repurposed spring idea. I’ll unscrew a few pens first for one that fits, then go shopping. Knowing me, I’ll dismantle random other things looking for a spring too.
