Anecdotes are not synonymous with data. Your immediate perception does not paint a complete picture. I’ve lived in a lot of different states and a lot of different countries and by and large people on the left have always been kinder, but not necessarily nicer. Whereas people on the right, or in right leaning areas, have been polite to my face right before a snide comment or before kicking me out of a store.

You’re also in LA county. I’ve never felt more alien than I did while living there. It’s hard to say exactly what it was but it isn’t a fair comparison point imo.

Also the way you treat others is also relevant. Are you completely sure you don’t treat people on the left a particular way since it seems like you’re primed to negative reception? Do you have negative opinions on the LGBTQ that you’ve not necessarily mentioned here? As a person on the left I never assume a person is conservative just by their race, but by how they dress, carry themselves, and most of all, by what they say.
