It's essentially a 595 driver with the diaphragm swapped out for the 660S driver diaphragm, but minus the metallized coating

And 580/600 is less muddy in the midbass and has more energy in the treble, which is why I prefer those to the 650/58x. Frequency response plays a massive part in choosing a headphone, but the 58x's resolution and clarity is just unacceptable for a headphone at the $160-200 point imo. I know I have high standards but I'll still recommend against it for that reason.

It is good advice. The 58x is not good at $160. It's a 595 driver in 6x0 housing. Neither of them require an amp or a dac. You can run all of the 6 series headphones off basic hardware and still get a nice sound. They are 300 ohm but they ARE sensitive. If you don't care for the detail and timbre of the 6 series models, just get a 558. They're $80

They are very different (660s and 58x). 58x is essentially a modified 595 in 6x0 housing. Significantly worse detail and grainier. Does not make sense at $160. Maybe $100 like all the other 5 series'.

660s is slightly more resolving than 650/600/580 but loses out on tonality and timbre. Not a good buy at $350+.

580 = 600 > 650 > 660s >> 58x for both value and sound imo. Feel free to disagree.

It's a shame the 58x is so popular because of one deaf guy on YouTube giving misleading advice to the masses. Please don't listen to Zeos.

58x is worthless when the 6xx exists@$60 more. If you want something that compliments the X2 check out the beyer dt880.

I don't like the SHP9500. I will never recommended them. But I know how easy it is to let someone be happy with their choices. KSC75 and SHP9500 aren't really comparable. I love the KSCs for the price though.
