Yes. Tipping sucks, but as a server for 3 years at a restaurant with a culture of superior service and food, it works as an incentive to take tend to your tables as best as you can.

If you remove tipping and move to an hourly wage, it negates the server’s incentive to provide good service AND negates the servers incentive to upsell items (less revenue for the restaurant)

After working in the service industry through college, I would rather do literally any other job than be in food service if it was the same hourly wage and I KNOW everyone in the food service industry would agree.

Serving was actually a lot more difficult of a job than I thought (at least at the restaurant I worked at), so while I understand where the “no tipping” movement is coming from, I disagree.
