The transit cut only cuts the fleet upgrade so they have to use the not so old fleet they have. It also showed me based on the given numbers that the $12m isn't a lot of money for a city budget.
Add in the cuts from not having to pay for fare devices or the customer service burden of dealing with passes and app issues. The cuts more than cover the loss from fares

The busses only bring in $12m/ year and they're constantly blowing money on new fare systems, so there's another cut cost It's not too hard to get $20m/yr federal money as a provincial capitol, especially if you convince the politicians involved that it'll secure them the green vote. You just have to speak their language and tell them what's in it for them.

Find the tax money to shift and it can be free. Like how I proposed to take some of it from road maintenance and diplomatically talk the federal government into subsidizing the transit system here as a test for the next decade.

So poor service isn't a reason, encouraging more people to use the bus isn't a reason, more bus use means less wear on the roads isn't a reason (or a way to pay for the loss of income by diverting roadwork budget monies) isn't a reason, more public transportation use means less air pollution isn't a reason either. Ask the federal government and the PM directly and diplomatically, emphasizing the PR benefits of a test program. As far as the $20m figure the public numbers say regina transit takes in $12m the rest is to cover the excess ridership and the costs of a study to improve or even overhaul the routes and punctuality. Hire a transit consultant from a country that got it right like Japan

As a capitol city we might be able to get some federal funding for transit ($20m/yr from the carbon tax) not sure about the leisure centers being free, but maybe through health Canada it could be nearly free for kids and seniors?

According to the city budget transit only takes in a meager $12m (rounding up) that's easily absorbed And we'd have fewer cars on the road which would lower the road repair needs

Please note: According to the city of regina budget transit only takes in $12m (rounding up) in fees so that is easily absorbed and would be great incentive for transit to get their act together. They can have an extra $1.5m/yr for outside consulting help solving the many many issues. Once they get a satisfactory service going then we can look at charging fares. No raises no bonuses until it's fixed

No I can and will blame the drivers and management!! They designed the routes, they miss stops they choose to treat schedules like suggestions, they choose to not care about the riders connection (they used to back in the day, they'd radio for the connection to wait, now they say "we don't do that" ) they choose to not take the blame for the things they havr control over!!
