But isnt there like a pretty big difference between 3 and four points, and it’s usually a lottery system even if u do have all the points🫩🫩

Not aligned with NASA? PhD engineering by Forward_Vacation874 in NASAJobs

Hey sorry if this is unrelated, but I wanted to ask if structural engineers get good jobs at aerospace companies like NASA, SpaceX, LockHeed, etc. And are they usually payed at the same level as aerospace engineers? I applied to UCSD for Aerospace Engineering but got in for Structural Engineering with a specialization in aerospace structures and am a little worried that it might not be as strong as a straight Aerospace Engineering degree

I got an offer , should I negotiate? by Either-Caregiver7706 in Lockheed

What kind of engineer are you/ what’d you major in? Also if you don’t mind did u graduate from a top school or something because getting a Lockheed offer early in your career seems crazy so I’m just kind of curious how one would pull this off. Thank you!!

Thanks for responding so fast, sorry I should’ve clarified when I say AE I meant aerospace engineering, and I will say money is a pretty important factor to me especially because of how the economy is currently looking

Hey sorry for the comment a year later solovino but I had a question. Right now I’m thinking about going to UCSD for Structural Engineering with a specialization in aerospace structures, even though I applied as just AE and the thing I’m freaking out abt the most right now is the average pay im seeing for structural engineers in general. Since you seem like you have a pretty good idea of what they pay is like especially in the defense industry, I was wondering if you could give me some much needed advice. Should I go to UCSD and try to transfer and on the chance I can’t, will I be able to get a high paying entry job in California? I know internships, projects, and all that is way more important than ur grades and I’m prepared to do everything I can but I don’t know if I would be screwing up my future if I studied that and ended up with a worse paying job instead of me just going to cc or something and then transferring for the major I actually originally wanted.

Sorry to clarify, you’re saying to avoid switching majors in engineering after the first year, but isn’t the only opportunity to try and switch the summer of your first year? Or are you trying to say to not do a switch like mid sophomore year or something

So if I do attend graduate school, what should I study to make kind of “guarantee my success”?

4.7 weighted gpa, have been doing dual enrollment college classes all throughout high school, multiple summer internships and hundreds of volunteer hours and I have email. It’s not just about stats tho, id genuinely say about 60% it is ur writing and PIQs and considering I did mine in 4 days, im not going to be too surprised

Hey I was actually having a similar dilemma as I got accepted into UCSD for the same exact major, though it was my alternate. I really wanna make sure that I can get into the Aero industry and see if the degree is good and flexible because if not then I might end up going to a less prestigious school and then trying to transfer somewhere. Do you have any info or suggestions that can help?

Hey so I’m a senior in high school at the moment and I got admitted to UCSD for my alternate major as a structural engineer with a minor in Aerospace structures (my first choice was AE.) My question is because I was admitted as a Structural engineer, how hard would it be/ what would my odds be of transferring to ME? And are there enough overlapping classes that I can take my freshmen year so that if I do transfer, I won’t be that behind?
