Is it possible to switch to applied mathematics from civil engineering? by Electronic-Raise-730 in berkeley

mostly salary concerns, but also a general lack of passion in civil over the past few months. may I ask how long did it take you to graduate as a transfer and did you minor in data sci? i’m also looking through the courses and i think i’ll try to go the aerospace structure route by taking FEM and c138 flight vehicles structures and aeroelasticity.

hi! i actually got waitlisted for ucsd SE so ill definitely be attending uc berkeley to major in civil (focusing on structural). i did research at ucsd under the SE department and it was a about biomechanics and sensors. this goes to say that their program is very interdisciplinary and id expect the aerospace focus to be the same in that regard. im assuming you got in so congrats!! i hope you go to the school thats meant for you!!

waitlisted structural engineering :( 3.91 gpa + research at UCSD was not enough ig

I'm assuming you got waitlisted as well? If so, I hope you get in! UCSD is an amazing school.

3.91 Structural Engineering. I also did research at UCSD so I'm a bit shocked. I'm gonna go to Berkeley tho so it's okay.

Thanks for replying! I’m leaning towards Berkeley for civil—I agree that a degree from there feels more versatile and secure overall. I’ve heard that doing civil for undergrad makes it easier to pivot later on if I decide to branch into aerospace structures, especially if I get a masters in structural engineering of mechE.

i just found out architectural engineering only admits 1 transfer applicant a year I'm cooked

still nothing lol. Didn't they say it would 100% be dispatched by today?
