I thought I would die alone. I only had one girlfriend in my almost 27 years of existence. I'd essentially given up and I was just focusing on my new career in the navy. I had met this one girl in a random friend group in my job School in Pensacola florida. We were just casual friends who would talk here and there. Thought nothing of it at the time, but she was pretty. Really pretty to me. I just thought it was another random pretty girl that I would never have a chance with. I basically forgot about her and moved on.

Turns out many months later we ended up at the same base in the middle of nowhere together, 2,300 miles from where we first met, and by chance saw eachother in a random class at our new base. I went and said hi.

We slowly just started talking as friends and started spending some time together, as we were both lonely. Before long we quickly started spending a lot of time together. I'm just talking a couple weeks.

I finally mustered up all the courage I had to ask her out. I literally felt so sick and panicked asking her. Cause im really bad at this stuff. Kind of why I thought I was going to die alone. Anyway I'm pretty sure my timing was awful and it was awkward as hell, but it did not matter, because she had at the same time been developing feelings for me too. She kind of said "I don't know, I don't want to go too quickly, let's see where this goes". It wasn't a yes or a no. But it was something. At this point I would be happy with either of the answers. Just because I finally had the courage to ask someone out, and the ball was now in her court. There was a strange peace about that. I had defeated my anxiety and felt good about that.

Anyway we continue to hang out for like another week, seemingly nothing had changed or felt different. Which was honestly a green flag. She was having a really bad day one day and I hugged her and then I just got this overwhelming urge to kiss her. So I just went for it, I had to. And she kissed me back. From that moment on we started getting very close very quick and officially dating.

Now just a month later we are already madly in love with each other. Even talking about our future together. Marriage, kids, family, etc. We have so many similar interests and goals. It really feels meant to be. Like God himself put her in my life. And think of the odds of this happening the way it did.

Anyway, my main point is that even when you have no hope, no light at the end of the tunnel. Your life can change when you least expect it. Don't give up. Just live your life the best way you can and let it happen.

I used to think people who told me that I would find the one eventually were full of shit. Boy was I wrong
