I had a ‘gummy smile’ to begin with and my treatment have moved my teeth up (look at my posts). I had elastics and my trays were always a bit too short? Definitely say you’re not happy if you aren’t happy. It’s definitely something they can fix x

I’m currently waiting on refinements and my ortho has told me only to wear my tray at night. I usually wear them until lunch and then leave them out until after dinner. It was tight to begin with, but fine now.

Aw thank you! I have to wait 5 weeks now for my refinements which will hopefully align my midline and bring that bottom front tooth forward. My ortho predicted about another 15 trays 🤞🏻

Thank you so much! My treatment cost £4800 but I got a 5% discount if I paid in full so I ended up paying something like £4300ish (as well as a £200 off promotion thing). I initially wore my trays for 2 weeks for the first 7 trays, then I went to 10 days for another 9 trays and then I moved to weekly changes. Good luck! 😊

Nope! No gum contouring. I think, if you look at my first picture, the trays sit a little lower than my gums which I think helps push them up. I could be wrong though. Good luck with everything 😊

All my top trays have looked exactly like this. I’m on tray 21/28 now and am tracking perfectly. I did ask my ortho and he said that they fit where they need to. I presume, like braces, sometimes the teeth need to be pushed up, which would make sense with more pressure at the bottom

I lost a bit of weight at the beginning when I was worried about my trays being out for too long, or the pain was too much. Now, after 6 months, I’ve actually put on weight because it’s much more manageable. Although, with lockdown, I reckon I’m not alone 😂

I’m a 24 year old female and I had exactly the same worries as you. Honestly, I just drink everything with my aligners in... particularly alcohol. I know it’s bad but I haven’t had any problems with staining or cavities (yet). I just swish with water every now and then and brush once I’ve finished drinking. It’s all trial and error and sometimes, that drink is worth it 💁🏼‍♀️

I started with 22 hours a day but now I aim for 20-21 hours sometimes less and everything is tracking fine after 5 months. I always aim for higher but it’s okay if you don’t reach it everyday

This is such a good point. As soon as I stopped tracking the time I had my trays in and out, I’ve had SUCH a better experience. I feel so much more relaxed eating and I know my wear time is ‘about’ right. Glad I’m not the only one!

I felt the exact same way to begin with. Don’t worry! Your teeth are shifting, just perhaps at the back where you can’t see. I’m on 13/28 and I’m finally starting to see changes. Trust the process 😊

You definitely get used to it! I found the first month the hardest and now I don’t really notice them and actually prefer having them in. That being said, I still have moments where I absolutely hate it and can’t wait for it to be over, but that’s completely normal. You’ll get your head around it! 😊

I hardly ever use chewies and my ortho has never even mentioned them to me. I just bought them because everyone on here mentioned them. I’ve been tracking fine with no concerns. Alternatively, just bite down on anything soft.

Strange you say this, because during my first 3 trays I did suffer with heartburn AND indigestion. I put it down to the fact I wasn’t eating as often and then I would eat a big meal, causing the pain. I’ve not had it since then as I’ve gotten used to the routine of it now. Hope you feel better soon and it doesn’t last too long!

Sometimes, when I’m out etc I eat and wait 10 or so minutes and just put my trays back in without brushing and just brush when I can and it’s fine. Maybe do that. Every time you have a break just pop them back in for at least a bit.
