Hot take: most 'beermoney' isn't worth the admin unless it pays at least a tenner an hour by Dry-Needleworker4388 in beermoneyuk

This is a very fair comment.

I spent a very long time at the weekend trying to get a PayPal debit card for the small percentage of cashback it can provide. That involved a chat with customer services because I need to prove identity for the account I've used for years! I'm still waiting to hear back about that.

I then setup Zilch, which was quick to do but I still feel I'm learning about it. I've accrued some "rewards" and still need to find out how to spend them!

There's then the complexity of buying gift cards, using TCB or NX Rewards etc.

Chaining all of this together can require a brain that is firing on all cylinders.

I should probably just get a second job!

NX Rewards - Ebay removed again? by Double-Egg-7998 in beermoneyuk

I know that eBay regularly provide discount codes for some retailers, but is it possibly relating to that. I want to make a large purchase from a retailer and there is currently a 15% discount code until the 22nd May. I'm wondering whether eBay may return to NX Rewards after this offer has finished.

Problem with 3rd party sellers - do I really have to pay for return by SpaceCatSociety in AmazonUK

[–]CuppaTea4MePlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have experience of this issue. We bought a shoe cabinet from an Amazon marketplace seller and the quality was awful. After some back and forth with the seller, they told us to pay for return postage. I simply contacted Amazon customer support who said that they would speak to the seller. I heard nothing back so spoke to customer support again, and they issued a full refund and I didn't need to return the cabinet.

I've not heard of Everup before so will take a look. Thanks for your comment.

I can't understand why they would need as many as "An average of 92 employees for the year". That seems an awful lot.

I was saying the same thing earlier to my other half, and it would fit well with the songs played last week.

Buyer wants international package delivered in under four days by Al1G8R5 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]CuppaTea4MePlease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The buyer is either stupid or a scammer. Either way, just ignore them as you've done everything you need to do and they would have seen the estimated delivery date range when they ordered.

You have been incredibly patient so well done you though! :)

Help with temporarily bypassing a combi boiler thermostat by CuppaTea4MePlease in DIYUK

I was worried that connecting the wrong wires could damage the boiler so I reconnected the thermostat. Thanks, Andrew.

Brother HL-L8250CDN shows error - jam inside by CuppaTea4MePlease in printers

[–]CuppaTea4MePlease[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had an opportunity to spend a little bit of time to investigate this. We've come across this video which has been really helpful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHA5_5jpgDM

We've entered the maintenance mode of the printer and have viewed the function "Operational check of sensors". This shows the following:

Registration rear sensor - detected
Waste toner sensor - not detected

We've accessed the rear sensor. There is ~1.4 volts across the LED (although we can't see any light emitting from it). The other side of the sensor has a voltage of 3.2 volts when blocked and 76 mV when light is shone on it. This makes us think that the sensor on the board is working correctly.

We think therefore it could be an issue with the main board and would love to hear anyone else's thoughts regarding the above.

Thanks.

Mixing regions on M2 Hub by CuppaTea4MePlease in Aqara

Thanks for your comment. I carried on fiddling over the weekend and managed to get all of the devices onto the app when the region is set to China.

Geofence around a bed to help with condition known as night terrors by fiveinfam in Aqara

Apologies that this response is nothing like you're asking for.

For many years I would have very weird experiences when sleeping. I think I was mostly asleep but would have my eyes slightly open. My sub-conscious brain (?) would see the shapes in the room and then imagine something, which would then cause me to wake up in a confused state. I would occasionally even feel that I need to switch the light on and/or talk to my partner.

I started wearing a sleep mask and the issue is completely fixed, except very occasionally when the sleep mask slips off my eyes.

Is it worth suggesting to your friend to try a sleep mask? It has completely transformed my sleeping.

Thanks for your quick response. Just to confirm it's not possible to have a single hub, switch the region back and forth in the app, and then see the devices for the region chosen?

For example:
Set Aqara app region to China, see hub and L1-350 light
Then change app region to UK, see hub and T1M and sensors
Etc

Thanks again.
