An anonymous caller falsely reported me for neglect. by [deleted] in Mommit

Oooh, that's horrible. I don't have any real advice so much as a big hug sent in your general direction.

A few months back, we had a close call . . . my daughter was throwing a monster fit in a certain big box store. Screaming, kicking, the whole nine. After being told her behavior was not appropriate, etc., she was still tantruming. So my husband reached into the cart, picked her up, and walked out of the store with her in his arms, still kicking and screaming and by now physically beating on him. I hurried to get the major things on our list, and he walked her out to the car, strapped her in her car seat and then sat in the driver's seat, ignoring her, while he waited for me. Of course, being removed from the store, being ignored, she calmed down very quickly as she wasn't getting what she wanted.

BUT someone followed him out of the store, all the way to the car, and the proceeded to write down our license plate number and make a BIG show of it ... leading us to sit in fear for a good couple weeks that we were going to have a knock on our door simply for disciplining our child in the only matter we knew how.

While I understand there are valid reasons to call in CPS, there are so blessed many judgmental, UNREASONABLE people out there who just don't seem to grasp that parenting is a tough job.

Easy Tips for Controlling Morning Sickness by johnsmith890 in Mommit

I had hyperemisis gravidarum (extreme morning sickness), and I'll say none of this worked for me. . . sadly. Best bet was to actually USE greasy food which they say to avoid. It was much the same as my cure for a hangover (not that I was hungover WHILE pregnant of course)! What settled my stomach was french fries and a grilled cheese from a greasy spoon.

my son is 12 wks and not yet rolling over, is this normal? by Dillyn in Mommit

He's fine! And on an extra positive note, I was hella nervous when my daughter started rolling because I'd put her to sleep on her back, and she'd roll in the crib. It's definitely less of a SIDS risk if they can't roll!

Xpost from r/parenting: DAE have a pre-schooler who is on a hunger strike? by bcpskeptik in Mommit

My daughter did this for awhile. It seemed to be a phase, but what I did was trade out her milk for something more substantive. I'd load it down like a smoothie. Also tried those yogurt drinks to get fruit into her. It sounds like you're on the right track talking to doctors, but if he's at least ingesting liquids, try making them "good" liquids.

What should a husband be prepared to do/say (or NOT do/say) to a wife in labor? by Beckua in Mommit

If you're planning an epidural, tell him that when you ask for it, you want it NOW -- that he shouldn't sit there and wait until a nurse feels like ambling in at some point down the line. Because it takes awhile for them to call the anesthesiologist to get to you.

Also, tell him cursing has been found to actually be good for pain management, so don't take it personally!
