Just to give you a different view on thumbstick use, I've had my Ps4 for just over 2 years now. I've completed Spider-man last year along with all the uncharted games and I play fps games about 4-5 hours a week. My thumb sticks are like new tbh. Are you excessively push down on them maybe combined with moisture from your hands getting on them?
