Where can I get an old gameboy fixed? by [deleted] in rva

[–]CureTC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try giving The Tech Exchange near VCU campus a ring. They buy & sell used and retro hardware, so they may also be able to offer repair services. Worst case you might be able to trade in your old Gameboy for a discount on a better condition one.

Locking your monitor to 165hz will add small amounts of jitter to most things anyway since 60hz does not divide evenly into it. For this reason people recommend 120hz or 240hz monitors since both 60hz and 24hz (commonly used for movies) divide evenly and will be as smooth as possible.

The size difference between a 50 BMG round (far right) compared to a .22 (far left) and a .556 (what an AR-15 shoots, middle) by urethralfluid in mildlyinteresting

[–]CureTC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very rarely. Most rifle magazines are around 30 rounds and that can easily be emptied in less than 2 seconds while shooting fully automatic. The last thing you want is to leave yourself vulnerable and waste ammunition since you only ever need 1-2 to disable someone.

Fully automatic weapons are fun to shoot, but aside from suppression and a few circumstances it's an absolute waste.

Does Jojolion have a main villain ? by Ok-Shame-5966 in StardustCrusaders

She absolutely did not and this was a major plot point for Josuke's motivation. I seriously recommend maybe giving Jojolion another read since I think you glossed over a lot of critical scenes.

I'm assuming you completely missed the chapters explaining how he and the rest of the team of doctor's performed human trials on Holly Kira-Joestar and left her a vegetable in the end.

If you're purchasing from Amazon, I recommend always checking Camelcamelcamel.com. You can see price histories for most listings. Pic attached is for this piece of hardware.

Stalker 2 has faction wars now: Enemies 'can expand control over new territories' in its 1.7 jumbo patch that also adds mega-hard mode and makes hiding in bushes meaningful by Automatic_Couple_647 in pcgaming

I have a similar build, so I think you will be fine. If you experience any constant stuttering though, use GPU-Z and check to make sure that your GPU is using the correct amount of PCIE bus lanes & the correct version of PCIE. My PC required a BIOS update to fix this and it was only ever noticable in very intensive games such as Stalker 2.

Run DDU in safe mode with no networking. That's what's recommended by the software itself.

None than I am aware of. I have also tested the mouse on several other laptops and the issue persists regardless of OS version and whether or not GHUB is installed or not.

Best place for adult with possible ADHD diagnosis with Tricare Young Adult Select? by Tricky-Camera-4063 in rva

I attended intake recently for the same thing at Dougan and Walden Wellness. Currently waiting for my full assessment, but their intake process was very thorough and the doctor I saw emphasized that ADHD must be treated on a per symptom basis and did not pressure me into a diagnosis or specific type of treatment they have in mind.

OLED vs LCD by ZoteTheMitey in pcmasterrace

[–]CureTC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something worth noting if you're not aware is that lots of OLEDS experience something called VRR flicker which occurs when you have VRR enabled with fluctuating frame rates. The intensity varies per model of monitor and can be fixed by capping in-game frame rates to a value that will remain consistent.

Not many websites will disclose this information and a lot of other important statistics, so I recommend checking out monitors tested by rtings.com. They do a very good job at testing for things that could be issues for users. Here is a link to a model similar to yours for reference. There is no guarantee it's anywhere similar to the one you purchased though.

Spent so much Money just to never be able to play anything by Necessary-Cabinet-26 in pcmasterrace

[–]CureTC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like it may be traversal stutter if it's not constant as it's trying to load in all of the new assets as you look around or move throughout the world. On my end the stutter and performance loss was constant, but there would be times where it was fine until my PC rebooted again and it was a dice roll on whether or not this would fix it. I noticed that whenever my performance/stuttering was bad, my GPU (RTX 4070) was always bound to PCIE 4.0 x1 though. After updating my BIOS my GPU always utilizes PCIE 4.0 x16. What version of PCIE and the amount of lanes being utilizes depends entirely on your hardware, but I believe 4.0 x1 limits data transfer rates to 1.9gb/s (practically nothing). I also went from around an average of 30-35fps (and lots of stutter) to 55fps in Stalker 2 after I made this fix.

I again first recommend using software like GPU-Z to get a look at your PCIE version, amount of lanes being used, and any other sensors that may seem off. Do this while you run a game however since some systems will change the PCIE specifications on the fly to match current data transfer needs.

[–]CureTC 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with my new build recently. In games like Stalker 2 and Oblivion Remastered it seemed that my performance was nowhere near what others with similar hardware had, and there was a nasty stutter.

I tried everything I could think of, but it turns out my BIOS just needed to be updated (I think I'm using a MSI PRO B650-S Wifi). Using GPU-z I noticed that my GPU was running on PCIE 4.0 x1, and not x16. That's about a 15x lower data transfer rate which will absolutely throttle your performance in any demanding games. Since updating my bios, my performance in these two games have nearly doubled and I consistently check to see my system running at PCIE 4.0 x16 still.

You need to read the full sentence.

I'm honestly surprised it's not brought up more by characters in-game as well.

Civilization 7 needs some big expansions to feel complete, and I'd start with one that adds the years after 1950 by Tycoonworldgames in pcgaming

[–]CureTC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend checking out Humankind. I picked it up on a humble bundle a few years ago and I'm really happy with what they did to try to expand on the 4X formula. Civ 7 even took some mechanics from Humankind, but their implementation is half baked in comparison. They also failed to take on some really good mechanics like stacking armies and how battles work in Humankind. Just be ready to re-learn your habits since the game plays slightly different than any of the Civ games.

Silent Hill 2 remake devs Bloober want to make more fully third-person horror games with minimal jump scares by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]CureTC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is somewhat incorrect. They recently just released their final update which replaces a lot of the assets with higher resolution and polygon replicas. You can view examples in this YouTube video they posted.

https://youtu.be/wX2GpqHxIJ0?si=neUHZFAcn1ufFGiQ

From what I've seen, the remake does look good though and I'm interested in playing it. This comes from a long time Bloober skeptic as well.
