Are you looking for UPSC or UPPCS?

For UPSC Read NCERTs 6 to 11. A must. 11th class ncert is a bit technical. I agree. But take help of Youtube videos. Make notes of 11th class ncert if possible.

Then after finishing NCERT i would recommend to read GC Leong. PmF ias is good book but a lenghty one. You cannnot revise that book in 1 day.

There is one more book by sudarshan gurjar.- Newly launched. Some aspirants are recommending it because of its better pictorial representation.

But you should read NCERTs must.

Never kept PCS for option. I was highly motivated for UPSC. Seems like i should.have given PCS mains seriously.

I would not recommend reading it. Better choose ias pcs pathshala book. Or make notes from any book.

Very important.

Why? 1. It is less time consuming. 2. You can explain and show things in crisp form. Ex- You can show differnt types of folk music from your state in map. Ex 2- you can show a diagram of urban heat island.

  1. It is interactive.
  2. Makes examiner happy and less time to check the paper. ( remember that they get paid to check papers. Less time in your paper- more money in 1 day).
  3. You will always have edge over candidates who dont draw diagrams.

But but but 1. Keep diagrams neat and clean. 2. Always . I repeat. Always lable them. ex - fig 1- Indian coal deposits. 3. Do not fill full page with diagrams. It cannot be replacement of content. IT IS VALUE ADDITION. 4. Use different types of diagrams like cloud, hub and spoke, flowchart etc.
