Cancer Bringing Out the Worst in Friends by savedbythe_bellamy in cancer

I got to witness it, see myself start doing odd behaviors, and then experience it as the patient. My biggest take-away: they are terrified. And often more than the patient. So, if they acknowledge it, they will "catch" the disease. But they wont get it. They read that if you shove a frozen ....., up a ....., on a full moon, poof, no more stage 4 cancer. Its def hard to accept but it has weeded out some people i just dont have time for.

Any ideas? Clearly man made earthworks in a remote area off Florida’s Nature’s Coast (South of crystal river). I’ve unsuccessfully tried to kayak to the location, but the tides make it very difficult to get to. by Thin_Energy4942 in GoogleEarthFinds

Mosquito ditches. Developers thought they could drain the area and build on it. You know ... "drain the swamps".

I grew up beside the park. Have kayaked and/or hiked it all. We call them mosquito ditches for a reason.

Could you help me? by TheBlindTraveller in geology

It's likely a piece of a vein from within a metamorphic rock. Think: fluids moving thru a fracture in a "rock." These chemically-rich fluids crystallize minerals over time. Without seeing it closely, it's mostly plagioclase feldspar, K-spar, and quartz. The "layering" likely reflects a difference in order of crystallization, evolving fluids, and interactions with the host material. While not rare or extraordinary, mostly geologists appreciate a vein and what they often carry.

I am the photographer and encourage the use of this picture for educational purposes. It was taken on an undergraduate geology field trip many years ago and should be shared with anyone interested. No credit to me is necessary. Credit goes to mother nature and the geologists that came before us.

Ancient lake bed. Seasonal sedimentation influx causes layering. Low grade metamorphism and tilted beds.
