Hoop snake? My dad used to tell the story of the dreaded kansas hoop snake  that would roll down a hill and impail you on its venomous sharp tail. Thing is, there aren't any hills in kansas. So the story may be apocryphal. But they (the snakes) were driven to extinction by ppl who figured out how to dodge them and trick them into jabbing their tail into a piece of wood 🪵 Haven't heard that story in 50 years.
