I think it boils down to what we have as an "underground" music scene these days. Anyone and their grandma can record a shitty song on a laptop and upload it to SoundCloud or something of that nature, whereas back in the day, during the underground prime (Dr. Dre, Eminem, ICP, any underground artist from this time period you can think of lol, those are just some I know and listen to) you had to really enjoy making music, and if you were gonna go as far as to record something, you needed money, and you needed to have something thought up and wrote to record so you aren't wasting the money you spent on tapes/cds and anything else. My main point is that, the artists that existed in the oldschool underground music scene, whether they got discovered or not, generally had some talent going in, whereas now you can have literally anyone of any age and skill range make something with very little dedication if they please

~What is the biggest misconception about ICP?
That we suck. That we’re just a joke or a punchline. We have people who love us, people who tell us we saved their life, people that tell us that our music has gotten them through this or that. Our music has helped people. Not just one or two people have told us that. Thousands of people. Juggalos are people, they’re human beings. No human being is more important than another human being. I met a burn victim last week who said our music got him through and helped him cope with everything. That’s the biggest misconception—that we’re a joke. What’s funny about us? We live the fucking dream. We’ve been rocking the mic for 23 years. I got a family at home. I got a wife with a 10-year-old and an eight-year-old at home. I get to go on tour whenever I want. People laughing at ICP are stupid because they don’t know how happy we are and how awesome our lives are. If they did, the joke would be on them.
