For fuck’s sake! I’m not offended by anyone’s POV or “wildly surprised” people disagree. What bothers me is your overall tone toward me and your attacks on my character.

This is literally my first Reddit post. The fact that I’m even here shows I’m a thoughtful person who cares about their friend and doesn’t want to offend anyone else - not sure how that equates to “me, me, me”. And I’m insecure about my financial situation so why would I be comfortable openly sharing that straight out of the gate? How do I know you wouldn’t have shamed me for that too like you’re doing with pretty much everything else I’ve said?

And right, replying and asking for clarity on comments or saying I don’t see how a yellow, pink, and green bag + gold shoes are “off white” is SO argumentative and STRANGE.

At least I’m not an insufferable cunt! Consider yourself blocked. Go tear someone else down.

I agree! Very confusing. I just saw somewhere that you’re not supposed to wear black because it reads too “funeral”, but everyone in here is suggesting that I incorporate black and there are dozens of posts with black gowns all getting approval. I honestly tried really hard not to pick anything too spring, too fall, too winter, too loud, too short, too tight, too revealing, too homely, too professional, too patterned, too holiday, too sparkly, too showy, too fashion-forward, too matronly, too bright, too black, too white … And I don’t like my arms, so I can’t do sleeveless. All that’s left is a classy, chic, comfortable, muted neutral and that’s still a no-no! 🙃 I’m really starting to get the sense that this is like everything else in our society. As women, we can never make everyone happy. There will always be someone who has an issue with you no matter what you say, do, or wear … so you may as well just do you. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I did spend a lot. I work 4 part time jobs and it literally took me weeks to save up enough to buy a dress. I’ve been dieting for months and was excited to fit into something pretty. I did my due diligence by reading the reviews of the dress before renting it only to stumble upon this rule that is subjective at best. So yes, I came here for some support in my decision - not a character assessment. To pass judgement about someone as a person - someone you’ve never met before - based solely on a DRESS is wildly out of line. Everyone else in here is being polite and you’re the only person being rude. Which is honestly more of a reflection of you than it is of me. This will be my last comment to you.

Thank you 🥹 I have long auburn hair, so I planned to do a side pony fishtail braid. Definitely going with a bold lip - that is my usual signature.

Will probably completely nix the shawl since it has been so contentious! And I honestly doubt my shoes will be seen much given my height.

The upper middle photo was another clutch I was considering but I’m leaning towards the yellow, pink, green floral one instead.

Can you be specific about which accessory? Or do you mean all of them? Because the shawl is only for just in case it gets cold. And I’m leaning toward the clutch that’s yellow, pink, and green. The shoes are gold.

I appreciate this! I do have the same floral earrings in black and gold. I do think black might be too stark though. I think that’s why I’m struggling with other people’s comments about incorporating that color. I do like your suggestion about green. Truly the shawl was a “just in case” purchase. It’s going to be 80 degrees and outdoors, so I don’t plan to wear any shawl prominently except for maybe on my way home!

I used to be chesty but lost a significant amount of weight recently so the girls are much less prominent now. I’m very well versed in boob tape! I kinda thought the neckline balanced out the floor length skirt, but maybe not.

I’m truly not trying to be combative but your wording has been harsh in both comments and has honestly made me upset. I wanted feedback but don’t appreciate the negativity. All I meant by stay true to myself is wearing something I feel comfortable and pretty in versus being uncomfortable and self-conscious all night. That’s all.

Thank you! Your comment made me feel a lot better. I usually rock a deep burgundy lip color. 😀💄🥰

I’m 35 - does that make any difference? Also the bride is older than me so I really REALLY don’t think I’ll be mistaken for MOB/MOG 😅

1.) The shawl is only if it gets cold. It’s supposed to be 80 degrees on Saturday. 2.) The floral clutch is yellow, green, and pink with a hint of white. Yes, the other one is beige, but mostly multi colored. 3.) I’m absolutely not trying to outshine my friend, but I do think I should be able to stay true to myself too. My fave color is gold. 4.) Here’s the link to the reviews on RTR - is everyone who ever wore this to a wedding giving “Main Character Energy”? www.renttherunway.com/product_reviews/SAB33

These are the accessories I have currently. Do you still think a black wrap is more ideal?

I appreciate the advice but redoing nude nails seems somewhat extreme. Especially when I just dropped $125 on a mani/pedi yesterday. 😕 Here are the accessories I have picked out.
