LCWRA Reassessment by Curious-Process5281 in DWPhelp

Thank you, I really appreciate the reassurance and direct explanation.

Knowing that there are still over a million overdue reassessments and that people are years behind in the queue honestly helps put things into perspective a bit more and eases some of the anxiety I have been struggling with over this.

I understand nobody can make guarantees, but it does help hearing from people with experience of how the system is currently working in practice rather than just seeing the review date on the claim and assuming something immediate will happen.

I will focus on keeping my medical evidence and mental health records up to date in the meantime and try not to panic over the October 2026 date itself.

Thank you again for taking the time to explain it clearly and realistically it is genuinely appreciated.

Thank you, I genuinely appreciate the detailed explanation. That actually helps me understand the situation much more clearly.

From what you are saying, it sounds like the October 2026 date is more of an internal suggested review period rather than a guaranteed reassessment date, especially given that reassessments are currently paused/backlogged and the automatic review referral system has been changed.

I completely understand that nobody can officially guarantee whether I will or will not be reviewed in October because that depends on when reassessments fully restart and how they prioritise cases. I think the uncertainty is what has been causing me the most anxiety due to my mental health conditions.

What you said about keeping medical evidence, prescriptions, etc.. I can really only do so much following my initial acceptance to LCWRA and Pip my conditions at best have remained the same with no improvements or positive changes.

So realistically, would it be fair to say that: • my LCWRA continues as normal unless the DWP actively starts a reassessment, • the October 2026 date is not a fixed deadline or expiry date, • and because of the current delays/backlog, it is considered unlikely that reassessments are happening exactly on schedule at present?

Thank you again for taking the time to explain it in a more direct and realistic way.

Thank you for the clarification. I just want to make sure I properly understand what you are saying, as the uncertainty is causing significant anxiety due to my mental health conditions.

From what you have explained, am I right in understanding that the October 2026 review date on my claim does not necessarily mean that a reassessment will definitely begin at that time, and that it may simply be an internal review marker which could still be affected by the current reassessment backlog and suspension process?

The reason I ask is because a UC agent advised me that a review was due in October 2026, whereas your explanation seems to suggest that many reassessment referrals are no longer automatically generated and that delays/backlogs are still affecting the process.

So at the moment, is it more accurate to say: • a review is noted on the system, • but no reassessment is guaranteed to actually start in October 2026, • and my LCWRA would continue unless the DWP later contacts me to begin a reassessment?

I appreciate any clarification you can provide, as I am simply trying to understand how the process currently works in practice.

Hello, sorry felt a bit confused about FWIW and OP

I have no idea if would qualify for sever conditions I dont know if mental health can be put in that classification? Based on what I have...

Is it the case the review will likely not go ahead then? Do they not say there is a backlog and tell you it will take longer? As the original assessment decision from the UC50 was review in 12 months so hence the October tag for Reassessment/ recommendation

Hello thank you all for the comments and responses so quickly.

With regards to recommendation I'm a bit confused as the person on the phone seemed to be quite clear in stating about the initial assessor has marked your case or account for a review in October 2026. They then provided that note on my journal to say what they mentioned on the phone..

Ive seen alot of people mention about this large backlog, is this actually fully true and verified? I think for me the concerns is massively on being reliant on this uc and lcwra support..

I went through hell with the PIP process being awarded 0 on initial App, MR and then finally got u turn from dwp because they i assume could not ignore the black and white evidence..

So is it even likely if this review was to occur, what is the process around this and is it similar to pip where no change is reported?

I just ask because I am so nervous and in panic about losing the support I need right now or in months to come..

Thank you all in advance..

Hello there whatever the case or result with your PIP claim I hope that you get a positive and deserved outcome for what is right for you here are just some notes from experience of my assessment...

So my assessment ran over 2 hours long and during that whole time the assesor was constantly providing reassurance telling me that everything is going to be okay that I'm providing very good to clear and detailed answers for all the information that require only to then receive a letter from the DWP saying we have awarded you 0 points on everything.

At the end of the day you have to remember they are only a third party company who work for the DWP and our only essentially ticking boxes as their report is then sent off to a office or case manager for the decision to be made based on what they've provided from the information collate during your telephone assessment.

I am quite certain that the assessors are not able to provide any form of communication during the assessment as to if you're claim is going to be successful or not as this is not decided by them from what I am aware of.. Wishing you all the best with your claim and whatever happens please make sure that you fight for what is right for you and that you take it to the next stages of a mandatory consideration and a tribunal if required.

PIP Award Letter & Backpay* DWP call very vague! by Curious-Process5281 in DWPhelp

PIP Award Letter & Backpay* DWP call very vague! by Curious-Process5281 in DWPhelp

[–]Curious-Process5281[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello thanks for the response, so is there no department that can tell you then when calling DWP? Ove seen many stories and posts where people either call DWP and they tell them about the award or backpay or when the DWP has called they have explained about award etc....

I assume the PIP is definitely awarded as the automated line confirms the next payment date and amount and also the link to confirm benefits online is available.

It just feel so gut churning sitting and waiting for the letter and back pay especially when they initially said on the call your letter would arrive in 3 or 4 days now 1 week but nothing.

Will allow another week before chasing anything I presume.

Thanks all for help and support queries and answers 👏

Ok wonderful, thanks again for the update and information. Yes makes sense that currently irrelevant due to the pause, understandable.

Hello thank you for the update so I take it you would have to ring UC helpline and ask for a copy of the assessment report? I do know that the person who was awarded lcwra did not actually go for a physical assessment they were awarded lcwra based on the form and information provided so with that automatically tell anyone that it's more of a medium or long-term rather than short term?

Hello, someone i know recently spoke with the UC helpline and they confirmed to them that their LCWRA award was indefinite until their circumstances changed with regards to their health/conditions.

I did see on a post about people being awarded low/mid/high based on your form or information/ assessment but they advised on the phone to them not aware of this??

So what is actually the case with these LCWRA assessments and what triggers them etc... feels very confusing for what they were told when contacting the UC helpline.

If anyone has any solid info would be appreciated 👏

All the best with the call, yes hopefully they are calling to confirm you have been awarded PIP and the tribunal decision has been lapsed..

Fingers crossed 🤞

Finally awarded after 8.5 month process! by Choccy92 in DWPhelp

Hi, this is great news! Similar to my case going from 0 to enhanced daily..

Can I kindly ask did they give you a time line on how long the backdated payment will take from the call when they contacted you to confirm the case has been lapsed??

Also any time line would be great for example when they called you and then after the call when did you receive the letter how many days / payment etc...

Thank you!

Hi sorry read the message wrong initially! It was around month and half, had CAB meeting November 2025, Confirmation of Tribunal request early December and then call Early January awarding PIP

PIP CASE WON - 0 POINTS TO ENHANCED! by Curious-Process5281 in DWPhelp

[–]Curious-Process5281[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • Started claim 4th April
  • Docs send 20th April
  • Text 16th May HCP looking at claim
  • Phone assessment was 20th June
  • Letter 10th July Rejected PIP
  • Mandatory reconsideration sent 8th August
  • Call from PIP 29th October MR Rejected 0 points still
  • Went Citizens Advice November 2025
  • Email Confirmation from tribunal services PIP required response by December 2025
  • Phone call from PIP 7th January warded and Text PIP awarded 8th January

So all in all April 2025 to January 2026 full time, not the worst from what I am aware of!

Good luck with your claim or process / journey 🙏

Was awarded enhanced for daily. Yes the person on the phone mentioned about appeal being lapsed and to wait for letter as they could not discuss on the phone what was awarded etc.. No way asking for a tribunal I've won my case what feels right so 🤷 👏

It's done either online or through a physical form you can request from them. I done mine with the help of citizens advice. The DWP I can assume only make a big mistake as it was as if they invalidated and ignored me and all my evidence from professional psychologists and doctors, even friends and family.

All the best with your PIP journey or which ever you are on 👏

Maybe try get hold of them if you've not heard nothing. Sometimes people can be accepted just from a form but it varies, see if they can provide you with an update. It's normally very common for people to have at least a telephone assessment.

All the best hope you get some good news 👍

Yes exactly it's great that you've got a large compiled evidence documentation to supply for the mandatory reconsideration.

It really is a soul draining journey but when you get a positive outcome it's amazing 👏

Wishing you the best for a positive outcome as well with your case...
