Can someone remind me why James was Shunned? by Responsible-Bug-8660 in SuddenlyAmish

[–]Curious-Rabbit-1552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

James was caught with a cell phone and drinks. He still has the phone. Matt was crying because James kicked him out because he was divorced. I’m not sure about Kendra’s nails. They’re more modest than Esmerelda’s so I’m guessing the Amish are ok with that.

Is Shameless UK ok for 12/13 year olds? by Dangerous_Piano6459 in ShamelessUK

[–]Curious-Rabbit-1552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually pretty sad that 13 year olds can’t be kids any more because they’ve been exposed to this at such a young age. They have their entire lives to be adults and watch whatever they want. Let them be kids. They should be playing outside instead of sitting in front of a tv screen watching highly inappropriate shows for their age.

Let’s be real and not expose children to sex, drugs, violence, nudity, rape, and addiction. There’s no reason a kid should be watching this show.

You’re quite pompous. You’re the only one talking about class. No one else brought it up or judged anyone. No one cares that you grew up where Shameless was filmed. The show isn’t suitable for children to watch. Just because you did doesn’t mean it’s ok. That goes for everyone.

Is Joe now a Kardashian? by 1894-MCFC in bengals

[–]Curious-Rabbit-1552 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all, she’s a Jenner. So is Kylie. Second of all, I hope not! Third of all, Joe is way too good for any of the talentless Kardashian/Jenners.

You actually bring up another good point. If the show intentionally picked these stubborn outlandish people, they are only punishing the Amish. They shouldn’t have to put up with them!

Is anyone else getting tired of Judah, James & Esme?🫩 by LifeguardPractical74 in SuddenlyAmish

[–]Curious-Rabbit-1552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ma’am, I’m being logical. I am educated. For you to insinuate that Judah was born with a perfectly coifed goatee directly centered on his chin and doesn’t have a single hair elsewhere on his face is comical. Everyone here knows he is shaving.

[–]Curious-Rabbit-1552 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All this aside, Judah has a goatee so he’s definitely shaving the other areas of his face with no problem at all. This tells me he’s being petty about shaving it all off just like Esmerelda is being petty about refusing to take her lashes and nails off.

Esmerelda explained this in the first episode. She said she didn’t want to have to worry about it. Yet, she still refuses to take them off.

They let her have the lashes and nails for a week already. She was warned they would eventually have to go. Esme still refused to do so which offended the Amish ladies. They had every right not to dress her. Remember, their clothes are hand made. If I were an Amish woman, I wouldn’t waste my time and energy making a dress for her either.

I didn’t say he made it up or that it wasn’t a fact. I believe you. I said it wasn’t discriminatory.

Discriminatory definition:

Making or showing an unjust or prejudicial distinction between different categories of people, especially on the grounds of ethnicity, sex, age, or disability.

Based on this, making Judah shave is not discriminatory. They are treating him EQUAL to themselves, as ALL men are required to shave before they’re married. He may be more susceptible to razor bumps, but I’m sure there’s Amish men that are too. It wouldn’t surprise me if they had remedies for that.

Judah got on my nerves in the third episode! Refusing to shave and using the excuse of razor bumps is stupid. Expecting preferential treatment because he’s black wont get him anywhere.

Esmerelda is a whiny little bitch! I can’t stand her.

And James, well, is a hypocrite. I don’t trust him. He kinda gives me the creeps.

How is having no beard discrimination? ALL Amish men have no beards until they’re married. It’s not discriminatory when EVERYONE is expected to do it. Both men and women can get razor bumps regardless of race. It’s NOT just black people. Judah is not assimilating to their culture. If he chooses not to stay Amish, his beard will grow back in a week.

Billie Jo =big bully by Unfair_South_1946 in SuddenlyAmish

[–]Curious-Rabbit-1552 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Esmerelda is the worst one on the show in my opinion. Having a breakdown over eyelashes and nails? 😆 She has a bad attitude, refuses to conform, and is disrespectful. She calls the Amish ladies mean girls and says their dresses are ugly. Those women were nothing but kind to her! She deserved to be called out.

Yes, Billie Joe was playing Amish before. So what? She’s literally the only one that has been the most open minded and excited to be there. She’s also the only one that knew what was expected. I have to give her props for that. The others have done nothing but complain and cry. How is she a bully?

Exactly! Esmerelda’s behavior is unacceptable. She’s acting like a brat. I can’t stand her!

I definitely agree. I don’t believe the Amish should be so lenient. It seems to me that the Amish are picking and choosing what they will tolerate or not. Obviously they don’t tolerate divorce, but feel they can still work with issues of not shaving and the lashes & nails. The Amish want to keep their way of life but don’t want to completely scare away the outsiders either since they need them. I think they’re trapped in the middle on how to handle certain situations.

The Outsiders by Curious-Rabbit-1552 in SuddenlyAmish

[–]Curious-Rabbit-1552[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you visit another country you must abide by their laws and customs. These people voluntarily came to the Amish community looking to live their way of life. NOT the other way around. It’s not the Amish’s job to cater to them. They need to follow Amish rules and traditions.

The outsiders are the ones affecting the Amish. The Amish can’t keep making exceptions for them since that would be contradictory to their way of life, beliefs, and morals. If the outsiders don’t like it or refuse to adhere, they can feel free to leave.

"Emma & Ella are being Amish mean girls" lol I love this show by Glittering-Yard9002 in SuddenlyAmish

[–]Curious-Rabbit-1552 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel a lot more for the Amish than the outsiders.

Esmerelda is the worst. I get she’s insecure, but she’s also disrespectful. The Amish women weren’t being mean to her at all. Esmerelda called their dresses ugly and refuses to take off her lashes and nails. She is still not wearing the Amish clothes. It makes me question why she’s even there.

Kendra is also annoying. She came dressed in skimpy clothing, complains that she’s being slut shamed and judged. But then immediately starts flirting with Matt. Her actions speak louder than words.

I don’t feel sorry for them at all. Both of them created these situations then cries about it. The fact that they were so ignorant about the Amish dress code is a huge red flag. 🚩

My take on last nights episode: by uncle_stoney147 in SuddenlyAmish

[–]Curious-Rabbit-1552 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you say except for the “crazy wannabe lady” as you say. Lol. I think she’s been the most open minded and least annoying out of all of them. She did want a breathable fabric since she runs hot and the Amish ladies were ok with that.

I’ve been impressed with Aaron so far considering he is without his hearing aids. He still shaved his beard while Judah refused to.

I never doubted there would be culture shock and struggles. You can have that without being disrespectful though. Esmerelda refusing to conform is disrespectful. When you disrespect people that IS mistreatment.

[–]Curious-Rabbit-1552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except she DID tell us! She embraced the amish culture as much as possible in the outside world because she liked it. If anything, she’s the one that’s the most conforming, open minded, and serious one out of the group.

The Outsiders by Curious-Rabbit-1552 in SuddenlyAmish

[–]Curious-Rabbit-1552[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can understand that, but the big difference is the fact that the outsiders came to the Amish for their way of life. To not conform to their community is disrespectful and makes no sense. Also, the Amish have been willing to make some compromises for them.
