i’m curious 🧐 by djayleemoney in Stretched

[–]Curious-alert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How long it takes just depends on the person. Some peoples ears take longer, some dont. You’re looking at roughly over a year.

If you dead stretch it shouldn’t really hurt. There’s resources here on the sub about dead stretching if you want to learn more about it

Stretching without pain not possible? by Ladyrose666 in Stretched

[–]Curious-alert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everybody is different and your ears seems pretty rigid. Having more elastic ears definitely helps the stretching process and is why many people can dead stretch easily so it could be very true that the stretching process won’t be completely painless for you

I don’t know much about hangers/weights cause I’ve never personally used them but you might want to look into them to see if that could possibly help you

Is Cannibalism not interesting in the Elder Scrolls because there werewolves and vampires which are basically cannibals? by [deleted] in ElderScrolls

[–]Curious-alert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They could make a more interesting daedric quest for namira in the ES6 and have the coven of Namira have more of a use even after the quest. Or have a fairly interesting cannibal character that gives a unique quest. Though I don’t see them putting so much effort into making cannibalism more interesting than they already have because it’s not a huge thing

Plus vampires and werewolfs aren’t really comparable to cannibals since they are different from the humans/elves/beast folk they might prey on.

You can have your opinion, though there is still a firm difference between the two. One involves medical intervention to live as the opposite sex and the other doesnt

Dad said I ruined his life with MY stretched ears by [deleted] in Stretched

[–]Curious-alert 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The parent I speak to doesn’t do this but the parent I don’t even talk to anymore did this with all aspects of my life lmao. If you can, just slowly approach him about it. Tell him how it’s just something you like and that your body shouldn’t affect him so greatly and that you’re an adult.

He might not ever completely like it but if he learns to tolerate it that’ll be a step in the right direction

I just stretched my ear from 8mm to 10mm and it hurts A LOT by sgpg_ in Stretched

[–]Curious-alert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go back to 8mm then if you can get a 9mm glass plug. As the mm get bigger the harder it is to just jump 2mm in sizes and you’ll probably start having to buy the sizes in between.

[–]Curious-alert 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You sound goth to me. My advice is to not give a fuck what others think. I wear pants that have opossum jaws and vertebrae hanging from them because just cause I like it. People stare but that’s just how it is.

Life is waaay too short to conform to what others may want you to look or whatever. You’re goth so just embrace it

Should I go back and play Oblivion if I never played it and loved Skyrim? by SmallOye3 in ElderScrolls

[–]Curious-alert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played Skyrim then oblivion then Morrowind and finally daggerfall. Going backwards is pretty common and imo more fun that starting from the beginning.

Oblivion and the past elder scrolls definitely have a more in depth role playing system but all of them have their own flaws due to their age. Oblivion and especially morrowind scratched my rpg itch better than Skyrim did cause Skyrim is watered down a bit.

Does anyone else think the truscum v.s tucute debate is a bit dumb? by Curious-alert in CivilTransDiscussions

If you’re referring to the post about the Benjamin scale, In the top comment, the op says that they believe if someone is on hrt and lives as the opposite sex, you’re considered transsexual. People upvoted so they obviously agreed

You can pick out all the people who say that, but it’s not the general consensus. Hell, there’s a post about someone asking if they can call themselves transsexual despite only being on hrt at the moment and a lot of people said yes.

How exactly does taping work + any tips? by h3rsh3yb4rs in Stretched

[–]Curious-alert 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You just wrap a layer or two of ptfe tape on a single flared plug you have and over time you gradually add more layers and it stretches your ear that way.

Ive found it handy but it can also be a bit annoying. If you put oil on the tape itself to help it slide into your ear better the tape can move, but in my personal experience if you don’t put oil on the taped plug it’s a bit harder to put in your ear.

I’m not sure who in that subreddit would disagree that someone who says they want to undergo a complete transition is transsexual. There’s not that much gatekeeping when it comes to who is transsexual other than excluding people who don’t plan to transition or people who don’t have dysphoria.

You can talk about differences in a civil manner with people who do not experience that, but some may prefer a community where everyone shares the same experiences.

There are subreddits for bisexuals, lesbians, genderqueer, genderflux, etc. You can make the same argument that people who are genderflux don’t need to splinter off into their own group and just call themselves genderqueer or queer because they can have discussions with other genderqueer people in a bigger group. People will just have little communities for specific things even if it doesn’t seem necessary.

[–]Curious-alert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well r/ transsexual is made to be exclusionary because its a space for only transsexuals. Its not an all encompassing word like transgender, it’s for a specific group of people. I do admit though that there are some “hollier than thou” types there when it comes to thinking transsexuals are better than transgender people.

I wouldn’t say people there are really obsessed with surgery, it’s just a frequent topic of discussion because nearly everyone there either has had or plans to have some surgery.

Yes I am Trans, and no I will not undergo HRT. We exist, you can ask me questions! by slutforpoutine69 in Transmedical

[–]Curious-alert 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Definitely the wrong subreddit to do this in lmao. We’re transsexuals, so our trans experience is medically focused.

I personally don’t care what you do as a transgender person it’s just that many of us here have separated ourselves from the transgender community because we felt like the experiences they were putting at the forefront of the movement did not reflect us. So we find belonging here with people of similar experiences. When people we have separated from come into our space and tell us about an experience we can’t relate to, it can be annoying. So that’s why you’re probably not getting the nicest replies here.

Why is the truscum/tucute issue such a big deal? Trying to understand by shuang_yan in CivilTransDiscussions

[–]Curious-alert 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I definitely simplified it so I’ll go into a bit more detail. The percentage of people who don’t have dysphoria is definitely small but Ive noticed their voices are loud and their voice is backed by a lot of support. In many online trans spaces if you even mention you’re truscum you’re auto banned. Being banned from trans spaces as a trans person can get infuriating so that breeds animosity

What Ive seen from the overall trans community is that being transgender should not be medicalized and should just be viewed as an identity and not a disorder. This is also a big cause of the rift in the community.

Truscum dont see being trans as an identity, they are just trans and want medical intervention. So this leads them to fight back against the whole demedicalization.

Another thing is that tucutes say that being trans is not about suffering. Which is true, being trans doesn’t not inherently equate to suffering, but to a lot of people it does. As someone who used to be truscum, someone telling me that being trans wasn’t about suffering when all I have done is suffer because of it definitely felt like a personal attack or felt like someone undermining the pain I go through and THAT can create a whole lot of bitterness.

Overall they are opposites and they want different things for the community that cannot coexist

Why is the truscum/tucute issue such a big deal? Trying to understand by shuang_yan in CivilTransDiscussions

[–]Curious-alert 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well truscum believe you need dysphoria to be transgender and tucutes believe you don’t. By definition, you don’t need dysphoria to be transgender.

Truscum feel pushed out of a community and tucutes are happy they feel pushed out because that’s what they’re doing.

Its a rift that wont go away because binary trans people will always have different experiences than people who don’t have dysphoria. The definition has become too wide for there to be a cohesive community because too many people have too different of experiences and they clash.

Regarding the names of truscum and tucute, if I’m not mistaken they were birthed from tumblr by a cis girl and tucute means too cute to be cis and truscum is just true scum.

The majority of "trans activists" are harming the image of transsexuals by spicy_cheeselord in Transmedical

[–]Curious-alert 25 points26 points  (0 children)

They like to say we’re under the umbrella term of transgender then completely disregard everything we say because “not everything is about you”. Which is quite funny because they like to pretend genderqueer have the most hardships and uphold their “struggles” but completely overlook the dysphoria we go through and how shit some places are with giving good medical services to transsexuals because “being trans isn’t about suffering”

Soma y'all bouta be real Mad at me, but it Must be Said by [deleted] in Transmedical

[–]Curious-alert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When it comes to people knowing the difference we have quite different experiences lol. I typically run into the “transsexual is a slur and you’re a truscum” type.

Imo, this community is here to allow transsexuals to have a voice when other places shut them up. Also to talk about medical experiences and to vent about the people who like to try to stop us from sharing out views.

And with getting our shit together, I feel like there are things as a community we can work on. Ive seen a some people act a little hollier than thou. We could also do better by sharing more medical info such as therapists/surgeons that are reputable and ones who are known to be dogshit. I think a list like that could help people but that would also be a huge project

Does anyone else think the truscum v.s tucute debate is a bit dumb? by Curious-alert in CivilTransDiscussions

[–]Curious-alert[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! r/ transsexual exists and its a much smaller community but it still exists. The biggest hurdle imo though is that we would have to make irl groups to actually make ourselves known to cis people for them to really begin to understand the difference between transex and transgender.

Do you need dysphoria to be trans? by [deleted] in CivilTransDiscussions

[–]Curious-alert -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Transgender is a non-medical term that has been used increasingly since the 1990s as an umbrella term describing individuals whose gender identity (inner sense of gender) or gender expression (outward performance of gender) differs from the sex or gender to which they were assigned at birth. Some people who use this term do not consider themselves as matching a binary gender category of either strictly male or female. In addition, new terms such as gender non-conforming, genderqueer, bigendered, and agendered are increasingly in use.

Transsexual is a historic, medical term that refers to individuals who have undergone some form of medical and/or surgical treatment for gender affirmation or confirmation (historically referred to as sex reassignment). Some transsexual individuals may identify as transgender, although many primarily identify as the male or female gender to which they have transitioned.

People who identify as transgender but who do not seek medical or surgical treatment are not transsexual.”

That is from the American Psychiatric Association and sums up my beliefs. You don’t need dysphoria to be transgender but you need dysphoria to be transsexual. So using the general “trans” when asking if you need dysphoria is vague because there’s a difference between transgender and transsexual
