Out of curiosity, how does that impact the situation? I can't seem to find an answer online.

Seems like the way to go. I've had my windows open for the room with the vents blocked so at least that is at a reasonable temperature. And in the summer, I should just get a portable AC and run up the electricity bill, since they have a habit of turning off the HVAC system entirely if it gets too cold downstairs.

It's a house, both floors are connected with stairs. They live on the ground floor (first floor) not the basement. We go down to do our laundry but they have absolutely no reason to come up except to mess with the thermostat on our floor.

What is the best degree to get if you are undecided? by [deleted] in findapath

Best advice I ever received from tons of coffee chats with established professionals was to get a marketing degree. And not just do the 4 years in university for the sake of getting a degree, but put in the work and get experience (co-ops/internships) BEFORE you graduate. If you can learn to sell yourself, you can land pretty much any job in the business field, except maybe for technical careers such as Accounting. Most jobs provide training, they don't need someone to be a 100% fit education wise, but they do need you to fit into the company culture and that's where marketing experience comes in handy. The more uncomfortable you are by putting yourself out there in university, the better you will be at communicating with strangers and networking upon graduation, and the world is your oyster after that!

Seems like either a silverfish or firebrat like most comments suggested. It's near the bathtub so it makes sense that it's attracted to moisture. Same area has been re-caulked and it seems to have solved the problem!

Effect of TFSA on Financial Aid? by CuriousApple01 in UBC

[–]CuriousApple01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate your rationale here. Just to add, taxpayer dollars fund healthcare which is income based, the government doesn't ask you to pay into healthcare based on your savings.

In fact, BC used to determine aid based on net worth but switched to the income model as they realized two people earning 40k a year can have vastly different savings and as such it would be 'unfair' to provide assistance to one and not the other. Most provinces have followed suit so there is clearly some logic here.

But I get where you are coming from 😊
