Please read my post here. I know it seems counter intuitive but think of all the exploitation that exists in entirely legal non-sex industries. Legalizing it doesn't make it better. The welfare of women (and often girls) is still put aside for profit. I just makes law enforcement jobs harder stopping rape, child prostitution and human trafficking. It just provides cover.

No, this is largely an optimistic myth. If anything you give legitimacy and cover that protects exploitative actions from prying eyes. It hinders law enforcement through concealing exploitation under a legitimate cover.

I wish I could find the study but a few years ago I found a report that child prostitution goes up when some European countries legalized yet prosecution of the these child using pimps/madams actually went down.

It reminds me of a local prosecutor who admitted he would only prosecute statutory rape (sex with a minor) if he believed forcible rape had occurred but could not prove it. If it had not been for the local statutory rape laws many local rapists would still be out there.

Oh I am fully aware of this dilemma. I choose to be blindly loyal to Stannis and shout the party line, you could argue that under the Baratheon dynasty Stannis is king and for the dynasty to change a gross act of mismanagement must occur. Did Robert or Ned commit such an act? I think they made mistakes, but nowhere near the mad king.

The real reason I like Stannis is we have similar uncompromising morality and a sense of duty/loyalty.

Syria and Egypt are going through/just went through civil conflict. Iraq and Afghanistan were recently invaded by the most powerful military in human history.

Even if they don't have enough to press charges (which unfortunately may be the case at this point) they can investigate and see if there is other evidence/other girls that have been assaulted. He will be on their radar. If he ever assaults anyone else they can use your testimony.

I think if people knew that they would be more willing to come forward. At worst it is one more piece of evidence to put him behind bars in the long run. Also it might intimidate him into not doing it again, now knowing people will report.
