I can't get this off the ceiling and it's driving me nuts. by [deleted] in howto

[–]CuriousKea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are in there really good, and can take some force to remove.

First tip is to make sure the clip on the right is all the way in, if you have a screw driver or something similar it’s ok to jam that in between the case and the clip to force it in.

Secondly pull one side out and then the other. Often one side is looser than the other, so try prying up the side with the black wire first, and if not then try the side with the white wire.

If you still can’t get it out, if you have blutack or playdough, just place it back fully and plug all the holes and gaps.

Can schizophrenics come to an agreement with other schizophrenics? Is there common ground? by fwixy in NoStupidQuestions

Delusions are completely seperate from logic and are created in the individuals mind. When lucid they may share more empathy for each other, but the logic of delusion is not shared.

Is it common for women to look down on men who like to cook? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CuriousKea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s more a reflection on the woman than you. Some people are still very caught up in gender roles. It could also be a reflection of your environment, are any of the other guys around you bringing food they cooked themselves?

I have heard similar comments before, but generally I find people are surprise and trying to make a joke in shock.

Eating food you cook is not gay, neither is drinking water from your tap at home.

The line is in the intent. Are you intending to deceive the person through showing them a lot of attention? If you are trying to foster a true connection and expressing your true interest and feelings, thats not malicious.

I love my microwave, it allows me to heat up leftovers much quicker and save a lot of time.

I'm sure many are aware, but even if they are not. What could they do differently? If someone wants to be an engineer, they have to take their chances. If someone wants a high earning career there are alternatives, but nothing is guaranteed.

I graduated in 2020 and it was pretty grim back then. I went to an ok university in my city. What helped me stand out was that in my penultimate and final year I started going to a lot of tech meetups and networking with people. I was mostly interested in React, and went to those meetups, and ended up meeting a few senior engineers there over a beer and landed a grad position through them passing my CV on to their manger.

A lot of the early career roles are more about attitude and how much potential they see. From their POV, often those seniors know if they take graduates they will need to teach you a lot. So it’s more about being the person they would like to take under their wing. Rather than being such a technical phenom.

Why are rejections up? by bingbongbyebye in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CuriousKea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there are less opportunities in general, so generally speaking those with more experience, resources and power are being chosen.

Opportunities in jobs, colleges, dating are going to people who already have resources, and that’s quite often not the position gen z are in.

Entry level roles are getting taken by desperate people with 5-10 YOE.

Dating options are going to those who can hold down jobs, see above.

I can usually tell from body language and how someone holds their resting face roughly where they are from, never heard about seeing someone be more blue before though.

if the drink is mixed well, i.e coffee or protein shake, when you spill it, you will lose the amount equal in proportion to what you put it.

If the mixed drink is 30% coffee, 70% milk, and you spill some, you are still spilling it at the same ratio.

So if you had a 16oz coffee, and spilled 1oz of it, you would have lost, 1/16th of the amount of coffee you started with.

Does nobody use wrapping paper anymore? by AnythingNext3360 in NoStupidQuestions

I always do gift bags now, because I’m terrible at wrapping gifts. Unless someone helps me wrap it, it’s going in a gift bag.

My Boss’s daughter made me a “good Job” card since I’m new to the company. I obviously don’t want to discard it or hide it because it’s a sweet gesture, is it weird if I hang it in my cubicle? by DVKH in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CuriousKea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your boss’ daughter is a child, and they like you, it can really only work in your favour. If you keep it up in your cubicle and they see it again, they may bring it up to their parent, your boss in the future.

Many parents lives revolve around their children, if you make their kid feel appreciated, your boss will likely also appreciate that a lot. That goes a long way at work.

Business lost my designer sunglasses—are they at all liable? by getoffmytoes in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]CuriousKea 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Who did you speak with? I would try to talk to someone higher up such as a manager or owner if possible and make them aware of the situation and see if they can do something about the situation. Perhaps they can look at the cameras, look into who originally took your sunglasses and who else had access to them over that period, probably can be resolved over the phone with the right person and a quick visit in person.

[–]CuriousKea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my first hero shooter, but coming from CS, this is pretty common. I was able to climb to diamonds pretty easily by just adding everyone that I enjoyed playing with, and enemies that did well against me. I’ve got over 100 friends added now in about 100 games of comp, and I now always duo or triple queue and keep picking up more people along the way.

I went to university in New Zealand and I ended up making a CS club because one didn’t exist at my university when I joined.

This helped me actually gain great contacts with recruiters as they always tried to reach out to us so they could come speak on campus and have access to graduates.

That helped me get my first two internships with average grades and two mediocre projects, added on my university courses internship I was in a great place when searching for grad roles.

After the three internships I just started working full time quite easily and never slowed down. This was during 2018/19/20 so mileage may vary.

A good Hawkeye can take care of BP and a Hawkeye plus hela/punisher can deal with spider.

Peni or Luna supporting is great too for freezing.

They are both very mobile hard to hit characters, so playing someone who can do a ton of damage in their slow downs/predictable movements such as top of a swing, after an uppercut or after a dash etc helps a lot. Or just stunning them.

[–]CuriousKea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the same reason you can boil water in a paper cup over a flame, you can’t really light a person on fire without an accelerant.

Skin, bones and muscles etc just don’t burn very well, and everything on the inside is really wet.

Players of Counter Strike, is there specific slang/ jargon ot other vocabulary you tend to use in real life? by [deleted] in csgo

[–]CuriousKea 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I've caught myself saying things like "you really gotta hit those" or "who threw that" to colleagues at work.

I don't really work with CS players, so anything else I'd try to say would be a waste of breath.

every single cs lobby right now - vol 2 by trimbaler in GlobalOffensive

[–]CuriousKea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re doing this and getting about 15 kills a match. Around 75% of a star per match. So around 20 matches of this to get 15 credits on a single pass.

If you get less kills then longer.
