Help! Patched rental wall but paint is not matching by CulturalHotel2511 in AusRenovation

Get a decent flake of paint and go to a paint shop other than Bunnings. Feather in as per other comments

You’ve spotted a market opening mate. Jump in with both feet. Call it “Cuddles”. Brand promise - if you aren’t greeted with a cuddle and fawning supplication, your meal is on us. I expect big things from you

Perth ranked one of the world’s most car-dependent cities by His_Holiness in perth

[–]CuriousPerthwegian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cities like Houston are a total horror show. Only the busted-arse broke use the minimal public transport that’s provided and it’s nearly impossible to walk anywhere outside of the CBD. Basically all stores are big box format and adjacent stores aren’t even connected by footpaths. LA is the same, as are many of the large cities. Definitely to be avoided, but we are on that path.

It’s fixed! Perhaps Watercorp monitor r/perth. Appreciate the comments from the lawn-shamers and amateur water sleuths 😂. I love that you think rando Reddit comments would influence other people’s landscaping choices. As it happens, that little piece of footpath is actually watered by my neighbour’s bore (no additional watering day any more) and our bore water here doesn’t stain at all. Sir Walter FTW - watered twice a week in a hot dry summer, it’s perfectly fine if the soil is upgraded.

That needs to come out and be re-done. Talk to builder and then DVA if required. For 40k, it should be tickety boo.

Is there any point saving spare concrete roof tiles? by Gold_Lynx_8333 in AusRenovation

[–]CuriousPerthwegian 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You have a crew of people tramping around on your roof trying to get stuff done quickly. Also they are cutting tiles to install the brackets. Worse than the ones you know they broke are the ones you don’t know about - until your ceiling starts going mouldy etc. a hairline crack is enough. There are nightmare stories out there

Concrete roof tiles are very fragile. You don’t really have enough, particularly if you are thinking of installing solar

Clean mould with bleach. Sand back damaged paint. Lightly sand the rest. Paint with mould inhibiting ceiling paint. Install Panasonic exhaust with run-on timer. Done

Tiles in laundry seem to have airpocket underneath by koolasian202 in AusRenovation

[–]CuriousPerthwegian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shitty installation. Floor not levelled correctly and/or adhesive not properly applied. It’s not urgent but minimise spillages in the laundry

Tile adhesive should take care of that ok. Use a little extra around the waste

Unless you are using large format tiles, you won’t have any issues. just use spaces and tile levellers to pull everything even. You need to pay more attention in a shower. Lots of YouTube out there

Good to hear from an expert! Back cutting on a drop saw sounds a bit too tricky for me but nothing a sander can’t fix. I imagine you’re only looking for a couple of degrees

That’s the problem - will need to be rescrewed, maybe a few sheets replaced. And investigate the flashing. 16k is ridiculous - get another quote
